Re: Front Brake Pads

Bike does not have ABS so that’s not at issue.

Front Brake Pads

New to me 2004 R1150R owner looking for advice regarding front brake pads. Bike has 26,500 miles on and front pads look “thin” to me. I can still see the wear indicator mark but can’t find a minimum thickness spec for this bike. What do y’all recommend for minimum thickness? Second question, priced ...

Re: Clutch master cylinder problem

I’m relatively new to bmw’s but If I recall correctly you need a special bmw fitting to properly bleed the clutch on the r1150r. If you didn’t use that the prior bleed may not have been effective. I’d double check that before tearing it apart.

Re: Engine whirr/whine

Installed updated tensioner left side, Engine noise remained the the same. Let my Indy listen and he said it sounded typical to him - so I’m just gonna ignore and ride it unless it worsens. Good to have the new tensioner installed anyway.

Re: Engine whirr/whine

Yup, I have the old tensioner- 17mm hex head. I’ve ordered the upgrade from beemerboneyard. We’ll see if that fixes it, needs to be done anyway.

Re: Engine whirr/whine

Thanks all, I’ll look into the tensioner - I recall seeing information on here about how to check if still old style.

Throttlemeister & Handguards

Not that I need the handguards in this heatwave, but I've come up with a simple solution to accommodate keeping your Throttlemeister usable when you've installed handguards (specifically Barkbusters). All you need are less than $10 worth of parts from McMaster-Carr, even less if you don't go stainle...

Engine whirr/whine

I’m new to BMW’s & have a 2004 r1150r, 26,000 miles. Running very well But have a whirring noise seemingly from the left side of the motor between 3100-3500 rpms. Sound is not there below or above that range. Is this “normal” or indicative of a problem developing? Thanks for any advice.
