I've been using 93 but no where on the lid or the rest of the bike does it say to do so.
I read some folks online are using 87 in their BMWs.
If I'm just using commuting on this bike (no racing or long rides), is there any reason to keep using 93?

Paint on helmet chipping away
Buy the closest matching touch up paint and ride on or is there a better solution aside from taping and spraying?

Would you buy a Buell Blast as a second bike?
I'm considering getting a second bike for the times when the BMW is being serviced/repaired. I don't want to spend a lot on the second bike since it would probably get ridden once every week or so (daily whenever the BMW's inoperable). The Buell Blasts are going for a song but my concerns are: 1. Av...

Re: Oil full and not burning or cloudy oil check window?
Now that I've experienced the bike a few thousand miles I can simplify this way further:
Put the bike on the center stand on a flat surface for the night.
Look at the level the next morning before taking the bike off the center stand.

Re: How many mpg are you getting on your R1150r
most of my miles are highway since I commute to work on the express lanes and tend to drive after traffic winds down. I use 93 and clock in at 38 mpg. I seem to feel that mileage was better when I first bought the bike.

How many mpg are you getting on your R1150r
Mine seemed a little low so I measured it at 38mpg at my last fillup.
Online the reported average seems to be 40, not sure what the manufacturer specs claim.
Has anyone recently measured their mpg?

Markings of all the critical bolts for quick-check before riding
Prompted by the "Check ALL the Bolts" thread (http://www.r1150r.org/board/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=35635), I asked my mechanic to highlight all the critical bolts which he did with the white weatherproof markings. Now before a ride all I need to do is glance at the markings to see if they'v...

Re: All in one biking boots: tall sole, weatherproof, no laces, and work appropriate
It goes over the ankle and it may not be as thick as boots designed for riding but with the velcro closures and level of comfort I'm ok with the choice. I can wear these all day without having to lug around an extra pair of shoes and they're easy on easy off and provide some level of protection over...

I ended up getting these velcro boots. Very comfortable, over the ankle, and I can wear them in the office:

Re: Commuting to work in DC summer heat, don't like side cases, and I sweat profusely
My solution has evolved to a two-wire system: Wire 1 runs through the neck brace which also runs through the back brace upon attaching to the helmet lock. Wire 2 runs into one jacket sleeve and out the other. As you can see, the helmet lock now holds the jacket, both braces, and helmet. The only thi...

I actually just got the perfect sized electrical harness at home depot. It has a split that allows the wires to enter. I'll do it this weekend, should be a 10 minute job if that. Thanks

No life in start button this AM, this afternoon it fires right up
This morning I attempted my usual start: Turn the key on Watch the dash light up Hear the fuel line hum for a second Hit the started button This morning the dash lit up but I didn't hear the fuel line hum and the button had no life (no attempt to turn over). New battery in January and I ride on the ...

Those are perfect, depending on whether one can walk in them or not.
What I do in those situations is have Coleman order and try them on when they come in. If something isn't kosher it goes on the shelf and they sell it to someone else

Re: All in one biking boots: tall sole, weatherproof, no laces, and work appropriate
It's become apparent that no manufacturer has made a boot that fits all the above criteria. Originally I sought: "tall sole, weatherproof, no laces, and work appropriate". I'll now relax the criteria above and search for a protective footwear that I can shift in and walk in for a reasonabl...
