Re: 2014 R1200R wethead ?

Everything I have read and hear says the motor is a great upgrade, and the wet clutch is smoother and much easier to get to. Supposedly they tested the heck out of the alternator, because the ones inside the case usually got hot and burn out quicker. I was disappointed to find out they are still cal...

Re: Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Location

The "outside" air temperature sensor on my R1200R shows at least 5 degrees hotter than actual. My Honda Ridgeline did the same thing, only up to 10 degrees. I asked my motorcycle service department if there was a way to calibrate it, and they deferred. They said I was getting reflected hea...

Re: Ever had dealer computer problems?

I have never had that issue at my dealer. Ever. 400 miles is a long way to go.

Might be easier to stop at Sandia BMW in Albuquerque on your way to Northern NM. Got any good mountain roads picked out yet?

Re: BMW Motorcycle Reliability Quality Support Failure

I too am tired of this whining. Someone buys a motorcycle with a known defect, isn't diligent enough to use simple alternative methods like a trip odometer, and then keeps crying over and over and over again?

Too bad this board doesn't have a "block" feature like Facebook.

Re: Fuel Strip Failure - interesting thread..

Inevitably, it appears my fuel strip sensor went out about the time this thread was revived. My Haynes manual said to take the side panels of my 08 R1200R and the fuel pump wiring connector will be on the left side of the bike. The picture in the Haynes manual looks similar to the picture on the ADV...

Re: R1200R, Slow Seep, U-Turns, Clutch and Clunk

I went to the MSF grounds last week to practice slow speed turns and stopping. One school I went to had us drag the rear break and stay a little on the throttle through the turn. That technique works well for me. I doubt if you will burn out your clutch using it for slow speed drills.

Re: Wunderlich Trophy Review & New Seat!!

Did the custom seat raise the height? I know sometimes the extra width can make it so your feet are a little further off the ground. Right now I can flat floot my R1200R at the traffic lights and I didn't like the BMW comfort seat because it was too high. I decided not to do a Russell Day Long for t...

I imagine it is a few years out as a factory option on the R1200R. Likely we will see the water boxer first (my guess).

My bike is due for a suspension upgrade. It won't be this high tech...

semi active suspension

You can purchase an Ohlins semi active suspension for a GS for only $2,869.95. I wonder if they will make one for our R1200Rs? http://www.indysuperbike.com/customer/product.php?productid=7111422 I can tell you the one on the HP4 is in a whole other universe from what I am used to, but I am still mos...

Re: My battery took a dump today :(

I am very satisfied with my MotoBatt MBTX12U Battery that I bought on Amazon for $79.95 last year. I don't need the best battery out there. Something reliable. If I get three years out of any battery, that seem about average. I wouldn't hope that just charging it will help. You don't want to be stra...

Or perhaps cognitive resonance? I like the idea of that. Being somewhat of a fanatic, I was caught off guard by the 1 in 3 statistic. But the point of cutting edge engineering is well taken. The Japanese raised the standards for cars with their tight manufacturing tolerances. If Lucas electric can ...

I am sad to see this. It doesn't seem to apply with the experience I have with my R1200R. I would like to see the whole article. One in three owners experiencing a major problem doesn't seem right.
