I too have a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket. Mine is in its 4th season of use and I ride a couple thousand miles a month between May and August, so it's held up well. I recommend it.

Hyundais have definitely improved in quality, style, and general appeal. While I wouldn't expect them to be as durable over the long run as a Toyota, they will probably last 10 years with little trouble. A couple mechanic friends have said that they would trust Hyundais. I think the Sonata is their ...

The last time the Brits were "a bit crossed," they sent Bomber Harris after the Nazis and killed 600,000 civilians.

I'd be a little nervous if I were those ruddy terrorists!

Dwayne - I'm a little late in responding to your post. As others have said, everyone makes mistakes. I rode over 60k miles before I had my first accident last December, so it happens to people with any number of years and miles of experience. I lost focus because of cold and fatigue. Of all things, ...

Yes. After all, when's the last time some of us have posted anything about our R1150Rs? I still have mine and will never depart with it, but I stick around more for the fellowship than the information.

Agreed.

As for the bike, it's nice to see the Japs offering something other than boring inline 4s.

Oh, yeah. I rode a Royal Enfield in April in Coimbatore. Once I put the footage on YouTube I'll let you know.

Traffic is crazy over there. No discernable following of laws, just a general understanding that you'll yield to someone when needed and you can sort of expect the same of others

That sucks, but as has been said glad you're OK. Good luck with the insurance filing. I hate the uncertainty that comes with situations like that. But it will all come to pass. The important thing is that you're alright.

I have long wondered why people like choppers so much. They're not functional and in most cases look pretty ugly to me. The fork on a Dyna Wide Glide or a Softail Custom is about the furthest I'd want my front end kicked out. Beyond that is sheer lunacy from the standpoint of riding safety. If I can...

CNN is just about as bad. I'll never forget "Bush calls for end to cartoon violence." It was a story about Bush calling for an end to the violence in the Middle East sparked by Danish cartoons making fun of Muhammed. For a brief moment, I thought he was commenting on Itchy and Scratchy :wi...

Not exactly answering your question, but the new Kawasaki KLR650 may be of interest to you. At just over 5k, it's so cheap it's appealing. And legions of KLR owners swear by the previous generation. The new one is evidently much improved.

To me, the stock amber lenses look better. I know, I'm the weird one. I never thought the clear lenses looked better when they first became the hip mod to do. The clear lenses just appear cheap looking to me. It's just not right. The amber color provides an appealing contrast with all the black in ...

Hari - I was in India a month ago. I rode a Royal Enfield without a helmet. It seems that more than half the people who ride there forego a helmet. I have to say the Enfield was a lot of fun. I was in Chennai and Coimbatore, as well as Mahabalipuram. I rode in Coimbatore. Even though I only got up t...

That's a great billboard. Kudos to BMW's marketing. I have a stage 1 kit on my Dyna. It's not fully open, so it's tolerably loud. It's got (for me) the right amount of bark and volume without being annoying. I hate open pipes myself. It serves for people to vote for stricter laws. I also have a Yosh...

You're right in that it's not much of a tourer. It is however an absolute hoot to ride around town. The sound of that motor is great, and it's plenty powerful. The Street Rod also has more lean angle available compared to the V-Rod. It's the one I'd get if I wanted a bike in the VRSC family.
