Re: Memories......

Maybe I'm lucky this morning! January 2008, dropped my '04 r on ice and broke left leg in a major way......I now have an expensive piece of titanium that far outweighed the value of the bike at the time. July 2020, dropped my new to me '05 RT on gravel. Roticerated my right foot about 120 degrees cl...

Re: What's next for your 1150?

I think for me my new-to-me '05 RT will spend a bit more time in my shop/garage than my previous '04. The recent accident (7/1) in which I broke my leg has urged me re-evaluate a few things. I'm riding again of course (over a month now) but I'm cautious. Leg is healing well and almost no discomfort ...

Re: Boxer Interviews Towerworker (me) for a podcast!

"Old men"???  In my way of thinking you're not an old man till you're upwards of 90. Now I'm only 65. I'm a pre-elder. I enjoyed riceburner's comment on the slow drawl accent. Many years ago I was part of a tower safety training class in Seattle. There was a young lady from Brit...

Boxer Interviews Towerworker (me) for a podcast!

For those of you who have been around this site a while you've seen me in the occasional response to a post, a post of my own or more notably my annual reminder to be sure you change the antifreeze in your R. Now Boxer has been here longer than I and is a site elder. That means he has the answer to ...

Re: Old Fourm members

Here it is with September nearly gone. I sold my '04 R 5 months ago with 103K and bought a garage kept '05 RT. And then on July 1st I laid it down on gravel at an intersection on my way to work. Broke Fib & Tib in my right leg. No really visible damage to bike thankfully. So tomorrow is 9-24. If...

Re: Glad to see the site is back up

Me too!! I was afraid Doug had finally had enough of maintaining this site. I'm a lifer of course but it's been a long time since I contributed monetarily to this site. I need to change that. This has been my favorite go-to site since I guess 2003 when I bought my first R. Had my check-up with my or...

gregor--I'm thankful for each day. I still have very vivid memories of being able to only move my head back and forth. Could not speak, could not move anything. Lost 65 lbs being unconscious for roughly 60 days. But be it for the grace of God....... Anyway that darn blue 2004 R1150R pushed me thru 3...

Re: My R of 13 yrs has a new owner. And me a 2005 RT.

Hi Rob So very good to hear from you! And I remember that day pretty clearly. Many people later told me how shocked they were (and like you were very gracious in not revealing it although I knew I was a very difficult sight) But God has been very gracious to me in my recovery. And I sure was not des...

Re: My R of 13 yrs has a new owner. And me a 2005 RT.

I’m getting along pretty well. I go tomorrow for a follow up. I’m hoping I can get a walking cast. Short answer to your question is no. To be honest I had actually asked a friend if she’d like to go for a ride with me. But the more I thought about it I had to rescind my offer (hated that because she...

Re: Slipping Clutch - low miles

Glad that was an easy fix. That outcome was as good as it gets. The RT I bought a few months ago had just had the ABS and clutch serviced so I don't have to think about that till next year. I'm glad I still have my filler adapter funnel I made up years ago for my first iABS system. A bit of surgery ...

Crap Wayne, sorry to hear that! Coming to Hungry Mother on 4 wheels? And boy, do you have these guys fooled! Vann at this point I'm not planning to come. I hate that but sitting around in a cast and crutches is not much fun. Setting up a tent and all the stuff that goes with it is just too much wor...

Re: Another broken leg

"Another" How many times have you broken your leg This is #2. Interesting in that I broke the left leg in a similar but opposite turn. Was turning left out of the office parking lot in January '08, hit a very small bit of ice and back end of bike slid to my right. Broke left leg in two pl...

Another broken leg

Wednesday morning on my way to work at 7:30. Pulling out onto a busy road just like I've literally done hundreds of times. There was one small patch of fine gravel that I'd earlier seen many times (and made a mental note to avoid). Of all the clean areas of asphalt I could've hit I manage to miss th...

Re: Forum Functioning ?

I'm still here as well and check in a few times a week. There seems to be much less traffic than in 'the old days' though, not sure if it's the age of the bikes or if there are alternatives places that people have drifted to. I'm a week or so away from doing my first valve adjustment on my bike. I'...

Re: Plug Problems

He added that he lines up arrows that can be seen on the left side of the head. The arrows are inscribed on the back sides of the cam sprockets on top of both cylinder heads, and when they point outward horizontally that piston is at TDC. BTW, I don't remove the rubber plug to adjust valves anymore...
