Re: Tire Repair Kit
Absolutely agree. In fact, revzilla just dropped off my two new Michelin Pilot power tires today. I’m really bummed about the front tire. The manufacture date says 3/3/16. That’s almost four years old. The front tire has a date of 9/10/19. Should I complain to Revzilla about getting such an old tire...

Re: Tire Repair Kit
Last Saturday, I had a flat on the highway and was able to safely pull over to the shoulder. I had my emergency kit bag which I carry in my riding backpack always. The 8”x8”x 3” bag came with my micro start lithium battery. I added a mini air pump and a slime tire plug repair kit and it all fit in t...

Re: new R1150R owner---best torque wrench range?
Another Craftsman 3/8” owner here. Wrench is 30 years old and I still trust it. Remember to zero out the wrench when putting it away. I really believe it helps to preserve the accuracy of the wrench over time. I also have a Tekton 1/2” and a cheap harbor freight 1/4”. If only one, go with a 3/8”. An...

Re: 2004 1150s...What’s your fuel efficiency??
My 2002 gulps the same. Around 35 average, but I ride it hard without economy in mind. I always thought the bike would be more efficient but it’s a thirsty motor.

My 02 R1150R, with a flyscreen, is still original. I do my own maintenance thanks to the information and help this forum provided me. Enjoy the bike. Like you said, it’s a powerful ride.

Congratulations! That, for me, is a complex job. It must feel rewarding to have accomplished the rebuild and being on the road again. Enjoy!

Re: Budget for Riding Season
I’m in California so I’m used to the high cost of fuel. But my rides are weekend rides and not on a daily basis so I don’t use as much gas as those who ride daily. I don’t mind putting gas in my R cause I know how much joy the riding gives me!

I think that total cost is a very good deal and knowing that you are getting a clutch plate with the extended splines.

I wanted to add that while I was treated dishonestly by one dealer, I’m sure that there are many honest dealers. And shops and mechanics who care about their work and reputation.

Re: BMW Dealer - Annual Fluid change cost - Wow!!!
I was ripped off by a dealer that charged me for work that was never performed. I won’t go into the details, but you pay and leave thinking you’re safe when in fact, not only are they ripping you off, they are sending you out in an unsafe condition or a condition that will harm your bike. I didn’t w...

Re: Need new tires....what do you like?
I also switched to the Michelin Pilot Power, a single compound tire that made my bike much more responsive. I’ve had no problems with the tire except I can’t find it in 170/60 anymore. I checked revzilla, MC superstore, bandit etc. and can’t find it. I’m not a high mileage rider so I really like the...

Never an oil leak in 16 years aside from a weeping oil fill cap.... Dont know if synthetic oil would have created any problems but i’m using dyno oil and don't see myself changing.

i use mid grade California spec fuel and have not had any knock. Originally, I was using super but folks on this site convinced me it wasn’t necessary. I switched to mid grade long ago with no issue.

Re: Wanted to say hi and ask for advice
There are many opinions about oil. For myself, a low mileage rider, I change my oil annually and use dino oil. 20-50 weight for the engine and heavy duty gear oil 80-90 weight. I’m not so particular about brand. I stocked up on Kendall engine oil and Lucas for gear oil. I change the gear oil with ev...

Re: Gear Selector Indicator
I always thought it would be nice to have an indicator but like most, I pretty much know where I’m at... I enjoyed the humor, especially Towerworker’s comment at his expense. And I don’t think he OP took any offense.
