Re: Vibrations after the service?

I believe the original poster was saying he did the work himself, so I would just advise you to take it to the dealership and have them check the TB sync you did. I would say that's more than likely the cause of your bikes vibration and rough running based on how you say it's behaving now.

It shouldn't be that, I cut all those off years ago. I may try cleaning the connectors like Oliver had mentioned. I think I'm going to replace all the bulbs, clean the connectors, and put some more electric grease on them.

Re: Turn Signal Bulbs

Advance Auto Parts has amber turn signal bulb 7507. I don't remember if that particular bulb has the 120 degree bayonet or not, but if it does not, file off one of the bayonets. Nonetheless; do you have a Kisan Signal Minder installed? Do the bulbs still blink rapidly using the emergency button? I ...

Re: Major Failure Poll

37,000 on a 04. my most costly problem so far is TIRES ! Knock on wood and ride. Funny you should say that, just got my bike inspected today and apparently I ran over something on the way there. No nail in the tire or anything, but when I got home the tire was low, and after some soapy water I foun...

Turn Signal Bulbs

Ok, this is probably the third time I've started a thread about my annoying turn signal problem, but I can't get this thing to go away!! Quick recap of whats happening: Occasionally my turn signals will begin flashing quickly, but both bulbs (rear and front) are flashing quickly, so neither of them ...

Re: 2nd Gear Sticking During Some Upshifts

There is a great write up in the "Maintenance" section of this forum that explains how to change the engine, final drive, and transmission fluids. I try to use Mobil 1 75w-90 in the final drive, and Mobil 1 75w-140 in the transmission, never tried the Guard Dog Moly though...maybe I'll try...

Re: FD fluid change

I just changed mine this weekend and got my oil at Autozone here in town. The only 75w-140 oil they had was Valvoline synthetic, so I went ahead and used that, otherwise I would have got Mobil 1. For the Final drive though, they did have Mobil 1 in the 75w-90, so I went ahead and used that in the fi...

Re: A Look Inside

I know this is a really old thread (just came across it for the first time while looking at stuff that was on this site before I joined in '08), but does anyone know what happened to this bike and if there is still a video somewhere where I can hear what it sounds like? It looks incredible!

Re: Major Failure Poll

my Stella! will be turning 72k shortly, and she has been a beauty of a bike, all red and stuff. That's awesome, 72k!!! I'm really hoping to get to 100k someday with this bike, and the more I read on this website the better I feel about my bikes chances of getting there. Plus, it's always good to kn...

Re: First ride

Today wasn't my first ride of the season, but it was the first ride where I didn't look like an eskimo all bundled up riding down the road. It was nice to break out the old leather jacket and leather gloves for a change. Too bad it's supposed to rain here in Missouri for the next 5 or 6 days though....

Re: Major Failure Poll

Final drive bearings wore out around 62,000 miles. That happened in spite of fanatical cleanliness during servicing, premium (Mobil-1) full synthetic oils and no heavy loads or sustained high speeds. When you say "sustained high speeds" you're not talking about interstate/freeway speeds a...

Re: Major Failure Poll

I had the final drive failure, at 32K miles. I rode 400 miles with noises from the back increasing steadily, without anything actually coming apart, and replaced the unit with a used one I got from Beemer Boneyard. Now I have about 45K with no further problems. Well that sucks, but thankfully BB ha...

Re: Major Failure Poll

Hank I tried to edit the poll to add another option of "Other Major Failure" so you could vote for that, I didn't realize though that it would wipe out all the votes I already had, but if you want to go ahead and vote for that option you should have another vote available to you now. Sorry...

I just wanted to put your mind at ease a little early. I appreciate that Giraffemom, and I know it's stupid to worry about it, but I do need to call AAA and renew my membership....just in case. ;) honestly can't tick no major failures as I have had the servo ABS die on me at 36,000 miles, a replace...

Major Failure Poll

I've had my '03 R1150R for several almost problem free years (it stranded me once on a highway because a spark plug wire came disconnected under the gas tank), but other than that I've enjoyed the hell out of my bike. It's got 30,000 miles on it now, and I've been trying to stay off the internet web...

Re: Bike down...Windscreen Replacement

I completely agree with Xdot, I also just received the Parebellum Supertour 21" for Christmas and it has made the rest of the cold winter here in Missouri so much easier to deal with. They are very well made, and compared to some other windscreens they are pretty fairly priced. Also, if you hav...

Rockster Seat (aka "high seat")

I am desperately looking for a high seat that came with most Rocksters, and was an option for the R1150R if anyone has one. I've been looking for several months now, placed ads on the IBMWR.com site, and even called the dealership to see how much a new one is (they said $264, think I'll keep looking...

Re: Finally a break coming in this unusually cold weather!

Macx, I'm in Columbia Missouri so I'm with you, I can't wait for this weekend when it's supposed to be in the 40's!! We got 18 inches of snow last week, and I had to ride my bike this weekend because my wife accidentally took my car keys with her on a trip. So, that was a little scary and I can't wa...
