Re: Would you consider a 2002 Fat Boy as a second bike, why or why not?
Get a sergeant seat for your R. Will solve the long trips. I got 150 miles a day on the stock seat. My record on a Sargent is 680 miles in 1 day. Could not give me a Harley. The suspension and brakes are right out of the 1970s. My Harley friends lead the way in the most awful stat: dropping the bike...

Thanks.
In the USA, model years are sold before the calendar year end. Right now, BMW is selling 2018 models in the USA. so my bike is titled as a 2004 model.

BMW Microfiche question - Starter Motor Cover
Looking to get a replacement starter motor cover for my 2004 R1150R. (I will not go into why I need a new one, let's just say the old one is "very tired") :) Looking at the BMW parts fiche for R1150R, there are 2 available part #'s for this cover. 11 14 7 652 125 STARTER COVER, SILVER 11 1...

Re: Mounting System topcase on an R1150R
It depends on if you have the side rails, and back plate. I was able to mount a locking Emgo box right on the back plate of my R1150R. Been working fine for years. It comes with a plastic plate that the box locks into, and 4 bolts that fit through the BMW back plate. It does not fit a full sized hel...

Re: Aux light mounts
Trouble with those is that they are so close to the headlight that they're not great for conspicuity - helping another rider/driver judge your location and speed. For that a forks or frame/tank mounting is more effective. Personally, that's at least as important as better night vision. After giving...

Re: Aux light mounts
I got some PIAA 1100X lights on ebay from a victory dealer closeout. My night vision is waning, and wanted the extra lights near my headlight for night riding.
I found these made for the R1150R, and mount using the headlight bolt.

R1150R Turn signal holders
I have intermittent use of 1of my rear turn signals, and instead of just replacing bulbs, want to replace the silver bulb housings. When I look at online parts riches for R1105R there is a turn signal "holder", the entire unit, but there is no part for the silver bulb housing that pops out...

Re: Riding below freezing: do-able or suicidal...?
Back in the 1980's, I was young and financially challenged, my engine in my auto blew up, had to ride the winter on my Suzuki till I scrapped up the cash for repairs. I had a Army issue coat, and long johns, and froze my butt off. Luckily it one of those less snow years in the NE. I remember begging...

Re: Harley advantages over BMW, any?
I have a friend with a HD, who has laid it down twice, just by grabbing a fistful of brake, or slipping on a wet painted yellow line. IMHO, BMW suspensions and brakes are the best in the 2 wheel world. But, HD is a cruiser, and the R is not. Apples to oranges as stated above. A kid at a gas station ...
