Aux HID lights
I ordered some auxiliary HID driving lights from Martin Fabrication. Below are some pictures (if I got the steps right for adding pictures). They mount to the fork using the bottom hole of the wind deflector. I wasn't crazy about the location at first but they are growing on me now. It was tough to ...

Re: Rear Drive problems
I have a 2000 K1200LT parked next to my RR. You want to see threads-o-plenty about final drive failures go check out BMWLT.com. It's a great site but just like here there are thread after thread about what could happen. It used to bug me. I certainly don't want to lose a FD or a top box handle or re...

Re: Less expensive alternative to a hugger
I received my MudSlinger today and installed it. It took longer to get the T25 bit and handle together than to install it. I wasn't crazy about the zip ties but with the black frame and the black zip ties you can't really see them. I think the MudSlinger looks good on the bike. It is well made and b...

Re: Less expensive alternative to a hugger
I ordered one of these yesterday. I should have it next week and will report back after I install it. I wasn't really interested in this farkle until a couple of weeks ago when I rode in the light rain. Wow. What a mess on the rear shock and underneath parts. Hopefully this will help.

Re: Integral Brakes
I too am in the habit of using both front and rear especially at slower speeds and when coming to a stop. Because I ride more than one bike it is a habit I will keep. The R1200R is so dang fun to ride!

Re: Hello from Yorkshire, UK
I have only be around the forum for three months but let me be the first to say welcome. I really like my Granit Grey RR but the thought of a red R1200R sounds very cool. Post up a picture when you get it.

Re: Longer shift lever?
ILium Works has a slip on shifter extension. It adds 3/4" to the length and a little to the girth. I don't have one but have been thinking about it. I have actually adapted to the feel of the lever and I have size 13 feet. But for $20 I may get one anyway and try it out. The gap can be increase...

Re: Varmint Cong!
I purchased my 2007 from a gentleman in AZ, back in December, that had kept it parked in a heated garage for the first three years of its life. It only had 250 miles on it. After the 450 mile ride home (it took me 900 miles) I got to looking closely and found a mouse had chewed through a few wires o...

Re: Magnetic Tankbag that can carry a laptop??
I just purchased a Cortech Sport Tail bag that attaches with bungee cords. It will fit a laptop easily. I use it to comute to work. It fits nicely on the pillion part of the seat. I have hard luggage as well but don't use it for comuting. It might be worth a look.

Re: Disconcecting the battery?
That is what you do on the K1200LT. Turning the key on (not starting) and opening the throttle wide open and then closed twice and then turning key off sets the throttle position sensor after the battery has been disconnected. I don't know if this is needed on the R.

Re: Greetings. Newb here...
Another R1200R FNG here. I have never bought a new motorcycle. My R1200R came to me three years old with less than 250 miles on it. The only difference from new was the warranty was gone. I took a very short demo ride on a new 2009 and then two weeks later bought my bike site unseen. I picked it up ...

Re: How much vibration ?
How much vibration is a very subjective question, or at least the the answer would be. 20 plus years ago I put a whole lot of miles on a R100S. I was a lot younger then and my hands got numb. But in the 160K miles on the bike it was not painful. I just found ways to be able to stretch my fingers. I ...

Heck of a ride
Howdy all, Last night I got home from picking up my new-to-me 2007 R1200R. When I picked it up it had 247 miles on the clock. It only took me two days and 816 miles to make the 437 mile trip back to my house. I have been riding a 2000 K1200LT for several years and a 1978 R100S many years before that...

Shifter adjustment
Hi all, I am picking up my new-to-me 2007 R1200R next week and riding it home. I will need to adjust the shifter a little to make room for my size 13 boots. I have searched and learned it seems easy to do. Can someone tell me what type and size wrench is needed? From what I gathered from what I have...

I really like the bug/bird screen on the one bike. The valves covers on that beast are amazing. Thanks for posting.

Re: Happy, happy. Joy, joy....
Roger, Home is in western Fresno County, Central CA. Coalinga to be exact. Bruce, Thanks for the heads up on needing a cool off period. I plan on being there between 1000-1100 which should give it time to cool down. I did the valve adjustments on my old R100S but hadn't thought about needing the bik...
