Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

I had a dry ride home and made the most of it I could by riding the blue ridge parkway from Buena Vista up to Rockfish gap. My front tie is now worn past the wear bars; planning to get another one ordered soon. It was great seeing everyone at the bash and looking forward to next year! Great job goes...

Re: ABS- Engine off, no brakes....normal??

With the ignition off, it does require LOTS more effort to work the brakes, but there should be brakes.

Re: Beakster Bash Lexington VA May 18 - 22, 2017

I'm planning on arriving Saturday afternoon unless I can plan a meet-up with any of you out on the road. What are the planned rides for Saturday? I know US 39 is fun pretty much from Marlinton all the way into Lexington and will plan on "arriving" from that direction unless something else ...

Re: RIP ABS 2002 R1150R

My servo ABS brakes still work (knocking on wood...) but am curious about the lever effort after removing the servo. I know with the servo in place but ignition not on, it takes considerable effort to get some braking - is that because of the servo design? After removal, does the non-servo feel bett...

Daniel (my son) and I both made it home without any incidents, and he got to experience 300+ miles of riding in the rain... Re: BEAKSTER BASH 2016!!!! MARATHON NY - Three Bears Inn

Looks like I'm in for this one, but only Friday through Sunday (lots going on at work). I'm planning on leaving Friday morning and taking a leisurely ride avoiding interstates through the middle of PA. My son may come with me if he can get off work (he currently has a Ducati Monster), and my co-work...

Re: BEAKSTER BASH 2016!!!! MARATHON NY - Three Bears Inn

I'm thinking about this bash trip. The mileage for me (minimal interstate) is very do-able for one day and I would love to explore more of New York. This would be a great opportunity! I'll see if my son would be interested, but I'm not sure what his riding distance threshold is on his current ride (...

Re: Michelin pilot 4 tires

Do these tires come in the "170-60-17" size? I've only seen 180 as the smallest size offered and according to our rear wheel size of 5", we should only use the 170 width. Has anyone had issues with using the 180 width tire on a 5" wheel?

Re: Hungry Mother 2014 is August 15-17

Also be prepared to ride in the rain. For many years this was refereed to as the Hungry Mother Rain Ride. I had to dump out my borrowed tent the first year. It had 2 inches of rain in it. Haha - that was the first time I met you; we shared a camp-site and you left grumpy to stay in a motel! I'm pro...

Re: Broken side bag latch.

I've had three of those latches break and it pisses me off that they used strong metal for the rest of the mechanism, but went cheap on the part that actually holds the bag on the bike. Like riceburner said, you'll have to buy the entire "multi-function" latch assembly, as the single faile...

Re: 2014 Bash - May 16-18, 2014 - Mt. Airy, NC

I haven't been as active in the forums lately (or on bike trips...) but I am planning on coming to the bash this year. Jeff pinged me about sharing a room, so I've basically committed to going. It's a good thing too. I haven't been to a bash in a few years, and am looking forward to this trip to sta...

Re: Canister or No Canister

While i never saw a real reason to remove it, mine eventually got clogged up and created a strong vacuum inside the gas tank- so bad that I had a hard time opening the tank to refuel! This was after about ~80,000 miles. I removed it and the associated plumbing, connecting the vacuum lines to bypass ...

Re: Hungry Mother 2013 is August 09-11

I'm trying to sort out the 2013 riding schedule; I'll pencil this in and will try to get my plans solidified. I'm tentatively planning a cross country ride sometime in late July or August so that may conflict with HMRR. If that falls through, then I'm in!

Vann is officially out, and I'm in along with my co-worker Paul. Paul was there with me last year. Talking with Vann, I'm taking his site which Paul and I will share unless we need to occupy all 11 sites. I'll take care of the money offline with Vann. Vann will be missed. See everyone this Friday!
