Re: Looking for a sport/touring shield + brackets for an '04 R
That looks interesting. I believe I read in the post that it has it's own mounts? Does not require the OEM mounts? Another benefit is that you're just down the road from me. Let me get this bike back in my possession and I'll contact you. I'm still mystified that this fella would remove a windshield...

Looking for a sport/touring shield + brackets for an '04 R
Spring of '20 I sold my 2004 R and bought an 05 RT. The fella that bought my 04 is wanting to sell it back to me as I think he's gotten a bit nervous about riding. (This was his first bike) I'll probably buy it back but the darn guy pulled the BMW touring screen plus a brand new laminar lip and toss...

Re: Oil burning
A little bit of oil will often seep past the valves and into the cylinder when the engine is shut down and immediately put on the side stand. Doesn't always happen because it depends on the position of the left piston, valves etc. If I think of it I shut the engine off and hold the bike upright for ...

Re: Rear brake vent nut sheared off
Two things you might try. I've had good luck removing broken bolts using a "left handed" drill bit. You can buy complete sets or individual bits from any good hardware store or even Harbor Freight. I'd remove the caliper and put it in a vise to hold it steady. Use a bit that's slightly sma...

Good to hear you again. I'm afraid I've not ridden nor checked in since very late fall of last year. Will try to do more going forward.

Re: generator light
I hope one of the above suggestions is the culprit. I too had a 2004 R w/iABS. Ultimately had to remove the pump.

Re: Test post
I wonder if how we log on or off has any bearing. I exchanged an email with the fella with the site hosting outfit. Something he said made me wonder if just simply closing the window still left me logged on. So I wonder if physically logging off the site prior to closing the window is something I sh...

Re: r1150r 2002 no start
Couple quick thoughts come to mind.....I know these are simple but it's often the simple stuff that eludes me.
1. Bike on centerstand, sidestand up? The sidestand kill switch comes to mind.
2. Both throttle cables properly seated in TB's?
And welcome btw!!

Re: Log-in answer found!
One of the first R riders I ever met (MikeCam) had a stable full of Boxer engine BMW's. He used Rotella 15/40 in his as well. This was in '03-'04. Back then I got in the habit of using Castrol 10/40 and 20/50. I've stayed with it and on my 3rd R now. Walmart always has a good price on Rotella but li...

And now since it's cold here with snow on the ground I think it'd be a good day to change my RT's antifreeze.

Log-in answer found!
Like possibly some others of you I'd been having extreme difficulty in logging in to this board. Last night I looked up the phpBB forum software people and emailed technical support asking for help. Within a couple hours I had an answer. Yuriy Rusko <yuriy@phpbb.com> 12:32 AM (6 hours ago) to me Hi ...

Re: Front Brake Pads
Does your '04 have ABS? If so regardless of which pad you choose remember that your front and rear brakes are linked when you pull the front lever. You don't need to use the rear brake pedal at all unless you only need rear braking. I didn't realize this on my first ABS BMW until I went thru two set...

Thank the Lord!
