Re: Holiday advice please!

Sorry, I can't be of much help. I live east of the Mississippi River, and most of my experience is riding in the Appalachian Mountains. May be hard to find an old car to rent, but you may be able to purchase and sell one for about the same price. Also one thing to look at is Hertz is starting to ren...

Re: BMW waterproof gear-anybody use it?

I have 2 pairs of the BMW Goretex boots. The only times my feet have gotten wet is when some other part fails and the water runs down my legs and into the boots. One other time was when I stepped into water deeper than the boot is tall. The older pair is 15-16 years old and the young ones are about ...

I somehow missed these too! Thanks for sharing pics Boxer and WNC! Posts like this and getting people together to share a common interest is THE reason I started this site. I'm really chuffed to see the traditions continue. Thanks Doug for making these all possible for so many years. This site and ...

Re: Tire Mileage

I personally think that the Michelin Pilot Road 1 was the best all around tire for the 1150R, unfortunately the got wise and upgraded them. I had one set of Pilot Road 2 and they scalloped like the old original Macadams. Metzelers were ok, but I ended up getting the Bridgestone 021, then 023, and th...

Re: Alaska (Tires)

I thought the Anakee 3 were decent for road and gravel riding on the 800GS, but I just mounted a set of Motor TractionatorGPS tires on the 800. I only have 50 miles on them, but they seem good so far.

Re: Alaska (Tires)

A friend of mine is only gonna get 2500 miles out of his rear Pirelli Scorpion(STR maybe). His KTM 1290 has 160 horsepower and he is resorting to Rain mode to save tires. LOL I was going to Suggest TKC70. I have been kinda impressed with the Anakee 3 tires on the F800GSA, but I have a set of the Mot...

Re: Need new tires....what do you like?

I was always a fan of the Bridgestone T30. The price was good enough that the 3 rear to 2 front wear rsatio was still a better price I never found them lacking for traction

Re: Pilot Road 3

I liked the Pilot Road 1 the best of all of them. I ran several sets of the Bridgestone T-30 before I sold the 1150R. The Anakee 3s that my 800GS was fitted with have been very good in all riding conditions and could mate up with a PR3. May be a few bucks less than the PR4 too. Michelin has become v...

It's a definite improvement over stock. I waited a long time before getting one, and then kicked myself for not doing it earlier.

Re: Fuel Starvation

I had a similar issue, and did the canisterectomy. Bike ran fine after that. Also had a fuel filter clog and leave me on the side of the road, but was able to be back up and running a couple of hours later. on the 4 spark bikes the stick coils are a pain but shouldn't leave you stranded. It just doe...

Re: Howdy from Texas - Request for Input Before Purchase

No leaks from under the engine in 87k miles on the silver R and none in the 17k on the red r. I used Mobil 1 oil the whole time. I did have some leak from forgetting to put the fill cap on once. LOL
