Re: 12,000 Mile Update & Other Stuff

i have aux lighting on my R1200R from motobozo. not very expensive but look and work very well. i just ordered a parabellum scout fairing for my bike and the motobozo lights won't work with the scout so i think i will get a set of caliper mount motolights. i also have a pair of Denali lights from t...

Re: Pulling the drive shaft

Has anyone tried to snake the shaft out without pulling the arm? The GS guys seem to do it all the time, and the R12GS takes the same shaft. I know its tight at the front to get at the circlip but it looks like the same setup as the gs. Good tips on the heat gun use, seems like everything has lockt...

Re: Pulling the drive shaft

I also replaced the boots last summer. The work is fairly easy and straight forward, and like Lost Rider said required no special BMW tools. Just wanted to give you a heads up that the aluminum pivot-pin on the left side of the swingarm “might” have been installed with red loctite at the factory (it...

Re: Brake Failure Light

My ABS pump went out last month (at around 48K) as I was driving it home after the costly replacement of the rear-wheel flange. The service manager at the dealer I use contacted BMWNA to request a good faith repair. To my surprise they agreed to cover 75% of the replacement part and perform the work...

Re: More deteriorating rubber parts... telelever ball-joint

I caught mine starting to split years ago and the super glue has held to this day. Thought about that - or RTV, but the rip on mine is right below the top and the two ends of the rip are separated too much to glue it. The videos on Utube are quite helpful.. but looking at it this AM, it appears I m...

Found one! http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Ball-Joint-Telelever-Protector-R1200GS-R1150GS-R1100GS-R1200RT-BMW-MOTO-/140909522354 Only problem it's in Greece. I've emailed the vendor to see how to get it quickly. When I went to buy it I didn't see an option for UPS (DHL).. Don, they are also available f...

Re: WARNING rear brake disk mounting flange failure!

Thanks, Don. I have indeed decided to let the dealer handle this one. The parts are in and they were kind enough to agree to come pick my bike up at my home today and trailer it back to the shop. I've not seen the new flange (in person), but like you said I've read on other forums it's steel and of ...

Re: WARNING rear brake disk mounting flange failure!

This looks a lot like failures introduced due to too much torque applied and then the normal strain on the components is too much. Mainly because of the use of air wrenches which are set up for way too much torque, but are used in shops because of speed of assembly. Of course, I don't know whether ...

Re: WARNING rear brake disk mounting flange failure!

I just passed 48K on my ‘07 and have been picking away at service tasks. This morning, a few minutes into changing the final drive fluid, I discovered this on the rear flange… every rear wheel lug bolt hole is cracked, the one pictured here being the most severe. Only one of the bolt holes securing ...

Re: Just picked up an 07 R1200R as my first real street bike

Interesting to see what other R12R riders carry. I’m getting ready for a trip today and am looking over gear, packing, and “pre-flighting” the bike, so I took a picture of what I’ve made my standard adventure tool kit. It may be too much, but I’ve just amassed everything I use when performing schedu...

Re: Who owns Wolfman luggage?

I have never used the mini Beta with the system cases, I use that for 2-3 day trips where I don't take a bunch of gear and don't need the cases. On longer trips I use my Wolfman med size dry duffle (check the calendar thread for picks of it installed) and the cases. Having said that, I would think ...

Re: Who owns Wolfman luggage?

Guys, I really like the looks of the Wolfman Beta Plus! I'm curious how well it fits if the side cases are also installed? Looks like the ends of the Beta Plus might just rest on top of the side cases and possibly cover the latches. Would the side cases interfere with the anchor points on the frame ...
