Re: sykospain ?

Funny- When I first saw his name written out I mistakenly read it as 'Skys of Pain' and thought- wow that's odd...hope he's feeling OK ;)

I always enjoyed the humor in his posts-

Enjoy the new ride, looking forward to seeing some pics!

Glad that you got to the antifreeze right away but with the warmer weather coming couldn't you have put that off for a while?

That's news to me. Maybe that's part of a 'regular' service interval?

Re: My new 2002 BMW R1150R

I have the side rack holders on my bike and have looked for a while for some bmw hard cases but have always been put off by the cost of new ones and used ones seem scarce. There seem to be some imported non-bmw hard bags on eBay but I don't know about the quality of these. My bike came with a set of...

I agree, bad battery would be my first guess, despite what the Muti-meter says.

The ABS system whines a bit as well when the brake lever is pulled- just an fyi.

^ Sounds like an awesome trip. I probably couldn't afford to do it but if I could, I would :)

I spent years ring lightweight bikes off road and really miss it-

Thx swamper. I'll order the other longer belt. I'm pretty positive that'll fit.

Re: Updating on the alt belt replacement

I thought I was going to be good to go with the new belt as it had the same markings as the old. The old belt came of pretty easily with the alternator lowered. Trying to put the new belt on and it wasn't going. Tried a few different approaches and still no go. Maybe if the all of the 'other stuff' ...

Updating on the alt belt replacement

...that I asked about last winter. Finally got around to switching out (or attempting to) the alternator belt. I had a chirp on cold start up that came from that area. I was originally going to attempt to adjust the tension bolt from the back side as some do but I struggled to get my old Craftsman t...

Re: Am I imagining it?

^ thanks for that, but it's not the one I had in mind. I could have sworn that the first thread topic on the discussion page was always a 'user gallery of photos' and then the general discussions fell below it. I remember seeing Sloiton's black bike posted in the gallery and was trying to cycle back...

Am I imagining it?

Didn't there used to be a photo gallery here? Went looking for pic of a bike that I liked and...well...seems it has disappeared.

Re: Good Time to Ride

Agreed. And while it's a bit on the early side, I'm digging the bike out of hibernation today. Got a few projects in mind to do that I asked here about over the winter, but those will have to wait just a bit longer until after a few rides.

Re: Hand Grip Glue?

^ I don't recall the particular brand. Only that it was aerosol and nothing special. I think the idea is that the alcohol in the spray softens and provides some lubrication to the grip to slip it on and when it evaporates you should be good to go. You might also try the safety wire thing...stainless...

Re: Flushing and bleeding the ABS system

Sounds like you got through it but FYI- I'm pretty sure that's the procedure that's been linked on the 1150 page for the integrated abs system. I followed it step by step, and while it did take some time, it was pretty straight forward. Also there is a funnel available through Beemer Boneyard that h...

Re: Hand Grip Glue?

I think I used hair spray also when replaced my grips last year without any issues. I've used WD 40 (takes a long time to dry) and electrical contact cleaner in the past as well. Back in my trials bike days I'd use Renthal grip glue in addition to safety wire to make sure that they wouldn't shift of...

Re: How do I Deal With This 5k RPM Idle?

Spit=balling here- but what about the 'cold start' lever. Is that on, hung up, engaged? Not sure how that works exactly in the big picture, but always thought it just added a bit of pull to the throttle cable...kind of like twisting the throttle open a bit.
