Re: 130/60 on the front?

Torsen, I have little black covers on them made from a stretchy material that I sprayed with a water repellant product/ I have ridden it plenty of times in the rain and have never noticed any issues. It doesn't get babied either, I ride at least 300km a week on it summer and winter. Rs, Sol How 'no...

Re: 130/60 on the front?

On the basis of the support and feedback from forum members I have decided to maintain the same tyre sizes to avoid any handling changes. I like the way the bike handles at the moment and it worked out that rims in the correct sizes were available. The hubs are at Woody's now and the next step is t...

Re: Tinted windshield

I have purchased 3 of his shields and he is a nice guy. Was happy with all. If you buy one and have to drill the holes (mounting) buy his drill bit. Just say'in. Thanks,...it looks like a direct replacement. I have the clear, with the bottom portion painted color match to the M/C ...and it [works] ...

Tinted windshield

Anyone have any experience with Gustafsson shields ? They show a "fairly" dark tint replacement shield, that "looks" like a direct replacement for the BMW "touring" shield . I like tinted shields, of course when I look over them, which in the case of the one I have, I do.

Re: 6th gear

A friend of mine told me that I should not use 6th gear on my bike due to the spline issues. I have a 2002 r1150r with 14,000 on the clock. I don't understand why 6th gear should have anything to do with the spline. He said don't use 6th gear on anything under 80mph. Is he full of it or is he right...

Re: Sargent Seat

What about Bar Backs to bring handlebar closer? Typically this model does not have a seat adjustment. Yes, that seems to be a common fix. On all my other bikes, when I change the seat, the bars also needed to be changed. I'll look into that, thanks. Do you use a tank-bag ? I ask because when I did ...

K/RS mirriors

Somewhere on here I saw where someone "weighted" the K/RS mirrors on their Rockster or Roadster,..just wondering why ? As to why I ask.... I have those mirrors on my Roadster.

Panniers / saddlebags

For the 1150R ...anyone know of any aftermarket "top loading" type that are made for the Roadster ? I seem to remember some that were actually made for "GS's" that were adaptable ? Just would like to have a bit more cap, and not in luv with the x-wide touring lids. ....And must a...

Re: Handlebar Grip Rubber

The heating elements are bonded to the inside of the rubber - hence why you can't 'just' replace the rubber bit if you're going OE. Actually you can, I was able to make a shallow 'slit' in the rubber and the tear it gently off. Saving the heat element . I did this on my "K" bike, intend t...

Re: Exhaust Adventures

Decided to have a crack at the no-muffler thing. I couldn't find a turnout I like very much so I made one. If you have ever wondered what an R series bike sounds like with straight though pipes I should be able to tell you next week. I will be using a Y-pipe and two 8" internal baffles (wrappe...

Re: R1150GS frontwheel on 1150R?

Your reason ? I like the 'cross' spoke wheel, looked into it for an 1150R If I recall it would be easier / & less costly to have a custom wheel made ? And not upset the 'balance' of the original design , suspension, etc.

Re: Riding in strong wind

I remember riding in high wind condition in Kansas on my 99 RS...allot of 'body' panel [fairing], as compared to my now Roadster. The wind would push me constantly to the right, I'd lean /steer back into it , etc. By the end of the day I wuz plum tarred.....seriously, it like'd to wore me out. Since...

Re: Advice, about to buy an 1150r

I don't think there really is much difference in sound between Akrapovic, Remus, Miv, Leo Vince and all the others. They all sound a bit deeptone gruntier. It's more about quality in the detailing and styling. For the sound part: Do you use it with the catalytic converter still installed or with a ...

Re: Pack your guns, the 2016 Bash will be in Waco

Motorcycle groups in that area of the country need to learn how to act. Instead of shooting each other in the parking lot we were resetting service reminders and syncing throttle bodies. Learning how to perform maintenance on our motorcycles and eating gelato, that's how we roll. Sure, we have the ...
