Re: Electrical Problems
This sounds like a mild "S" mod, and something I am very interested in. I seem to recall a thread where someone had a problem with the handlebar hitting something. Maybe it was the horn button hitting the tank. Any other information or links about this modification to an R1200R are much ap...

Re: Shop Manual
Thanks guys. Turns you all are right and the Clymers I was looking at wasn't for my bike. I went ahead and got a hard back instead of the DVD. Found a better deal on Ebay than Amazon. Next choice will be carb syncing tools. I just had the 6,000 mile service, so I have a little time before figuring i...

I had to change this post. I though you said 68,000 miles, not 6,800... Snatch it up.

This board has a very handy "search" feature, but here you go. Be sure to get to the second page to see the version Don C has been fabricating and selling.

Re: Screen height and inseam?
You are correct! Inseam compared to overall height helps figure torso height. What you are really needing to understand in buying a windscreen is how tall you are in the seat. Many of the manufacturers have tables with that information on the sizing part of their website. I know my inseam, but I don...

Re: Wind is getting to me
Really look at the Cal Sci windscreen with the DonC tilt block. I didn't think I could keep my R1200R until I got that set-up. It changed everything. The sizing charts on their website are not adjusted for the tilt block, but if you call them they will size it correctly for your height and inseam. I...

Shop Manual
I can't bare to pay every 6,000 miles for dealer service, especially after reading about Twinmax and Harmonizers. For sure I am going to start doing my own service. Can anyone recommend the best place to purchase a shop manual for a 2008 R1200R? So far the only thing I come up with is Amazon unless ...

Re: optimum shift rpm
The boxer twin is a very versatile motor. You can run it at high rpm's and have lots of fun, or shift more conservatively for better mpg (and still have fun). Some days I find myself using 6th gear more than others and running higher revs. I doubt if shifting at higher or lower rpm's will affect the...

It looks like it is running across the frame near the bolt over the driveshaft. I am voting with Contromoto on the break line. It could be running down the break line and coming from further up too.

Re: Need to make a mirror decision
I tried to get the 2011 mirrors at my BMW shop, but their parts computer is showing the same round mickey ear mirrors as the older R1200R's. If I order them and they are round, I am stuck with them. I even showed the parts guys some photos of the 2011 bike. There is a link in this thread, but the mi...

Re: new owner first 50 miles
My cylinder head covers took a huge scrap on my bike but I don't have bars. The covers area all I need. The cylinder head covers seem to be more common than roll bars.
I don't mind the engine braking and have gotten used to the throttle. I doubt I will make the investment in a booster plug.

Re: road hazard
FYI, MSF class says to slow down first for dogs, then speed up. It throws their timing off. Early in the morning and late in the evening, watch out for deer. They try to hurdle motorcycles and that usually ends with a broken neck.

Re: Akrapovic exhaust can fitment
So the install of the Akropovic on my 08 1200R was such a non event I couldn't believe it. One of the simplest things I have done on the bike since I put the stick-on BMW badge on the Cal Sci windscreen. Question about the lead free copper paste that went inside the clamp to the header and on the nu...

Re: Aftermarket parts, Warranty & Dealer
I just looked at the Booster Plug online and am interested to find some details from anyone on this board using it on an R1200R. Does it really make much difference? What specific changes are noticeable. Does it decrease gas mileage? Thanks!
