Took the wheels off yesterday. I didn't realize how many additional steps would be required as compared to the R1150R that I had done previously. I've always heard to use the throttle enrichment lever to start it and as soon as it's running smoothly, ride away. Smoothly for me is less than 30 seconds in even the coldest temps. As I'm heading down my driveway, I turn the lever off.

Anyone familiar with the area enough to recommend a motel/hotel in close proximity? I could really use a trip like this but don't have any interest in sleeping on the ground or anywhere close to it.

Mine closed up due to rust a few years ago. A brief reaming with mechanics wire and an occasional spray with WD-40 as well as occasional intentional over spray with gasoline has kept it open ever since.

Fear not - your bike is stable and won't fall.

I'm with Boxer on this one. Depending on what oil was used, it's likely to turn dark quickly. No reason to jump to conclusions that the previous owner misled you.
