Re: Trying to post images

There's a Share tab in upper left corner on the post image page where your image is, then select hotlink to forum, copy and paste. Or there are other choices under the 'share' -you could select 'thumbnail', and the image would be smaller here but would lead to the larger image when clicked I think. ...

Re: Excessive Heat ?! Please Help

^ Upload to a third party hosting site and copy and past the image link here. That's what I do anyway...I use tinypic, but there are many others. And fwiw, I'm always surprised at how hot my bike is when returning from a ride, even a short one. The last couple of minutes before shutting it off I can...

Re: My new 2002 BMW R1150R

Welcome Oliver, you made a great chioice- I couldn't agree more about the design, in fact it's the one of the most important things I considered when buying mine (actually third one!)...I wanted it to look like the motorcycle I had in my mind based on a lot of different criteria. My current 2003 had...

Re: Just bought a 2004 R1150R...need battery tender recommendations

Not entirely sure, but isn't that the sport screen? I had one on my previous bike but currently have the fly screen which is a little bit smaller. Either way, nice looking bike you've got there-

Re: Just bought a 2004 R1150R...need battery tender recommendations

I use the Battery Tender Plus. This is an older model, not sure of it's current availability but probably. Make sure to get the BMW specific plug, it's different from a typical cigarette lighter size. Might be worth double checking the battery to see what's in there for compatibility also? Congratul...

Re: Flat Black Roadster

Ok, while the increased temp/exhaust scavenging idea is an interesting one it seems more of a 'style' thing. I think it looks interesting, though I probably wouldn't do it as it seems that the look is not well suited for a stock bike imo.- better suited to something that's been modded to look a litt...

Re: Flat Black Roadster

It's an interesting look for sure, just never understood where it started. If I had to venture a guess I'd think there was some kind of racing where the engine guys thought wrapping the pipes made the bikes go faster?

Re: Flat Black Roadster

Always been curious about the wrapped exhaust pipes. I don't understand it's history or if there's a reason for it beyond it's *look*. I'm guessing that it has something to do with insulating for higher exhaust temperature? Or not- I could be totally wrong! ;)

Total wild guess here especially since it seems you've covered all of the initial things...caliper seals not retracting?

Well, that's one way to wreck a bike! At least it didn't break in half- I guess that's the good news?

Re: Lower Rider Pegs

It's hard to imagine specifically what's going on without a photo but I would think that if the choice were to grind a little off the peg mount vs. cutting or changing the center stand, I'd probably opt for the foot mount! FWIW, I added the Suburban Machinery lowering pieces and while the center sta...

Congratulations! Glad it's working out =D>
Thread caught my eye s I was considering doing the exact same thing. And it's been a while but I had this set-up on my 96 R850R and vaguely recall that the Givi frame sits inside of the fender...or under...er... not on the outside. :P

Well, FWIW, I've never really experienced a 5 minute job. At a minimum for me is a day and a half to think about it (and usually much longer), even if the work itself only takes 5 minute to complete!

Re: She sprang a leak

Thx for that. I assumed that the bolt had just loosened a bit since it did tighten a little with the ratchet. I'll keep an eye on it. Odd (to me) that it didn't leak last year or while being stored, but stranger things have happened I guess.

She sprang a leak

Not bad, but I noticed a spot on the garage floor yesterday. Here's the backstory: Oil change in the fall and the bike has been under wraps since. There is no indication of a leak in the storage area where it sat for months. So a few days ago I unwrapped the bike and moved it to a new spot in the ga...

Re: U shaped fitment on forward exhaust attachment bar

...and going back and looking at the manual for getting the bike on and off the center stand, it shows the hand grabbing the frame exactly where this piece is. So, while it might be a great place to hook a bungee cord, I'm voting that it's official purpose is a guard to prevent the hand from slippin...

Re: U shaped fitment on forward exhaust attachment bar

Funny thing is I went to put the bike on the center stand today and put my hand on the down tube to lift it. I noticed that the wire hook made a nice little resting space for my hand and would prevent me from touching a hot exhaust. Hmmm...
