Re: ABS Failure
Have you checked your error codes? Sounds like ABS but my recollection was once it broke, it stayed broke, so maybe a sensor issue...had my ABS rebuild by a company in Montana, has worked perfect every since...best of luck...

Re: r1150r-r1150gs wheels
I stand corrected, I was thinking the GS wheels were both cast 17" wheels which is not the majority of GS wheels so my advice only holds if the GS wheels are both 17", my apologies...

FS: 2004 R1150R engine
Engine out of my R1150SR project bike. All stock with only 20K miles on it. Just don't need it and want the room. Work with you on price, you pay shipping if you cannot pick up.

Re: r1150r-r1150gs wheels
Yes. You care what year ABS things are for wheels and sometimes rotor size. If your R1150R has the stamped steel ring and the R1150GS does, looking good. IF the R1150R has 320mm rotor and the GS has the same, you're in business...good luck...

...two different chemicals and have different affects on certain types of rubber. ... Avgas, or high octane fuel - it burns slower than lower octane fuels, and thus is better for high compression engines as it doesn't 'pre-detonate' - ie burn before it's meant to. +1 Av gas is good for my 13.5:1 pi...

Re: Puff of blue smoke
Although it is possible this could be rings, it is more typical of worn/leaking valve guides in the heads. If you sit it on the side stand and it does this, good bet it's the guides. If you put it on the center stand and it still does it, consider doing a compression leak down test. If it just high ...

...how do we all feel about the tachometer? Necessary? Truth be told, we don't need any of the instruments but do have reasons for each and everyone of them like the speedo, tach, idiot lights and even gear position, just most of us don't feel the desire to know so much...dumbest bike I ever owned ...

Re: Hydraulic Clutch Slave Cylinder Maintenance
My seal was frozen in my cylinder. Nothing made it move. So I took it to a machinist friend of mine for ideas and it turned out to be dead simple. Put a socket on it and smack it hard. Mine was really locked to the cylinder wall. I used the socket to hold it down, pulled the C-clip and it came apart...

Re: OEM Brake Lines/I need to hear you again please.
2004 came with stainless steel lines. I'll sell them to you cheap, won't fit my calipers. They look like the pic above from the 2003 bike. You need to have the BMW calipers for these lines, Brembo are different (slightly longer lines). I've changed my whole front end, so I'm redoing all of mine in S...

My 2004 R1150R came with the same lines. The previous owner made a lot of upgrades but this wasn't one of them. You can tell they're factory and not aftermarket a couple of way...

Re: Camshaft chain guide rail bolt: Help!
All you need off is the valve cover to access enough to put it back in. The end of the chain guide goes all the way through the cylinder and the end should protrude into the head where you can reach it, a flash light should enable you to see it and use a screw driver to lift it up enough to put the ...

Re: shocks interchangeability
I haven't done forks myself yet but I plan to. Had a set of FG832s, but with some good assurance from a guy I know in BSB, I believe I can learn to build a pretty good set based on his advice. Also, he's not a huge NIX fork fan, so I sold them...Got $2,600 for them (specific to RC-51s), think they h...

Re: shocks interchangeability
I agree, high and low speed on the street is just nice to have. I'm a bit of a suspension addict, so I got crazy on my Hyper and RC bikes, my R1150S project bike is street/track. The Wilbers sound cheaper than the Ohlins based on your spec and stated cost...I have Wilbers on my R1150S and one of my ...

Re: shocks interchangeability
Starting with stock. IF I ever spring (pun) for a new set, would probably be Wilbers for this bike. Very happy with my last 2 sets. All the Ohlins I've had were factory Ohlins, not as good as the aftermarket Ohlins. I'd be just as happy with aftermarket Ohlins as the Wilbers, very similar quality an...
