Are you perhaps modifying the vent tubes under the throttle bodies? The left tube seems to into the valve cover...?

Re: Leaky seals/ final drive

It could be a tranny leak, but FD leaks might be more common. The problem at the FD is that there are several unusual paths through which the FD oil can leak that are unrelated to the input shaft seal. In the drawing below, the input shaft seal (joint #4) would be responsible for preventing leaks al...

That' s cool, Wayne! Keep going, but with care.
It can't be too hard to make a special shifter adaptation. Have you looked into it any more?

Re: It's getting to be Antifreeze time again!!

I do not recommend this operation as a DIY. There's a good reason why the Owner's manual, or even most Shop Manuals, do not explain operations such as the purge of coolant or ABS in any detail. If you don't purge the air from both jugs AT THE SAME RATE, there will be an unbalance in the cooling rate...

Re: 2004 R1150R Clutch replacement in NY

When properly used, these clutches last forever. How many miles do you have? What does happen more often, is that clutch plates become contaminated by either gear oil or clutch fluid. I assume that the guys who sold you the bike don't assume that seals are wear items too, right? Clutch contamination...

Re: Tires and such

I have used 880s, Z6s, Stradas, and Angels on my R. This time I decided to try Continental's Conti Motion for the front (I still have a good Angel in the back). The Motions are half the price of a Z6 and are meant as a sports-touring tire for the "cost-conscious buyer". I did the installat...

Re: Lambda Sensors and Throttle bodies

1) Lambda sensor (O2 sensor on this side of the pond) I wish I knew a way to find out if the sensor is working or not. Since BMW did not put a Check Engine Light , we wouldn't know if we have engine faults. Plus, many bikes are running without a CCP plug and some have speculated that no plug means o...

Re: bmw newbie need's advice on a r1150rt

Welcome, Minz. I don't understand the "crunchy feel" but perhaps it's the clanging that you get in 1st gear when you drop the gas? If so, TADT. I may have a suggestion about the 1st gear. If you pull the clutch and then wait more than a couple of seconds before you try to engage the gear, ...

Re: Final Drive

It is difficult to avoid leaks of the FD because there are several paths that the oil can take. (See paths A, B, C, D, E in the figure below). Many mechanics assume that the leak is due to a bad seal "joint 4", which causes leak path C. However, other leak paths could be more common. To pr...

Re: Odyssey longevity??

Mine is 6+ years old and I have never maintained it in any way. It can go for months at a time without a recharge. I was away for a whole year and all a fiend did was to start the bike up every now and then. However, I have always found it a bit weak in winter.
