Jetblack,
I had a 1996 R850R. It had a switch to deactivate the ABS. Does yours? Why wouldn't that be enough?
If there isn't a switch, couldn't you simply add one? I think the ABS is fused separately from the rest.

A few other suggestions
I'm also very inseam challenged...about 27". First thing I did was to send my seat to Sargent and have them shave down the foam on top and sides as thin as possible and rebuild it a bit with their SuperCell foam...cost about $150 or less as I recall. This (and exercise) alone makes the bike com...

R850R was my re-entry bike
I had a '96 R850R for two years before trading up to me new 50R. I really liked the 850 which is why I stayed with the 1150r as a modern replacement. It was an excellent commuter, very forgiving, nice and smooth (a little buzzy between 65 and 75 but smoothed out again above 80 mph). If you get a goo...

I don't disagree about the aesthetics of windshields...but long distance riding can be tortuous without the windbreak.

The Aeroflow is an excellent product, nice looking and you can get it quickly. Just be forewarned that it requires putting the bracket on the handlebars above the triple clamp. Gives excellent smooth air. Even comes with what amounts to an equipment shelf to put across the upper brace (also makes th...

Hi All, I was very glad to find this board when I first found it before the move from EZboard, and even moreso since then. Tons of good info here and plenty of fairly interesting/entertaining personalities. I'm a patent lawyer by trade, father of three, just coming out of my mid-life crisis and fort...

Thanks to
Bill and the rest of you for your suggestion.
I changed my wiring over today to back of the accessory outlet and it is neater and seems to resolve an interference issue I was experiencing.
Appreciate the guidance.
