Dunlop Roadsmart Mileage
Just noticed my Roadsmart rear tire is showing the ware bars. Only 5000 miles. Kind of thought I'd be getting 7-8 out of it. What are you guys getting on your rear tires????????????

Got a ticket today
Took a 240 mile ride today most of it in very twisty roads. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are the best, HWY 70,. Any way I come around a turn to a straight and a long the straight I pass a CHP. Look down at the speedo and it's at 65, so I figure I'm going 60-61 tops. Don't think much of it until 5 or ...

I paid a couple grand more a year ago for my 04 but it only had 3,000 miles on it.

Re: Sheepskin seat cover
Band-aid at best. Spring for a custom seat. I went with Russel Day Long and will always use their seats from now on. They are worth the big dollars, I do some Iron Butt ralleys and it's perfect.

Re: Side or centre stand?
Usually use the center stand however my son has to use the side stand in the garage space he has. When starting after about a week or so it does smoke a bit. Didn't think much about it. Anyway it's going up to 65 here in the Sierras today so I'm heading out for a New Years day Ride. Going to fart ar...

Spark Plug Recommendation
Just thought I'd post that I changed the Spark Plugs in our 2002 R1150R to the Autolite 3923's and the surging is gone. Took it out yesterday for a 285 mile ride and it worked great. I used the search here and found that recommendation, thanx you guys. Question is about our 2004 R1150R dual plug, is...

Speedo Drive
My Speedo reads about 5MPH high at 70 MPH. The Drive is a 2.6 stock size tires and I believe this is probably the drive which came standard. Does anyone know which drive I need to get for the speedo to be closer????? I remember my 96GS, I had the same problem and I replaced the drive and corrected i...

Re: Tire repair (Or Not)
I couldn't find any shop that does it as a permanent fix. A couple of them told me that they would most likely work but they didn't want to be the one that was at fault if it failed. The biggest problem I have is not wanting to worry about a tire in a 60-70mph turn on a mountain road, which I drive ...

Re: R1150R windshield
I have the same windshield and it does make it noisy. Earplugs are a PITA but that's the only thing I've found that helps.

Re: Tire repair (Or Not)
So not to start a new thread I'm thinking either Avon Storm2 or Michelin Pilot Road2 for my new front tire replacement. My sons 02 R has the Avon and it out performs the Dunlop that went flat. Don't know much about the Michelin. Feed back?????

Re: Tire repair (Or Not)
Thanx duegi for asking about it. After analyzing my type of riding and my options I think it's best to just replace it. I usually use this bike on longer touring type rides 4-10 days and really want to avoid any potential problem. Then the peace of mind starts to work into the equation also. Lastly ...

Re: Tire repair (Or Not)
Talked with a Dunlop Factory Rep at the Thousand Oaks BMW open house today. He said guys do the Plug-Patch thing however he doesn't recommend it after a Reaming tool has been used for the emergency plug fix. Says it causes to much damage to the radial ply belts. He also said not to use an inner tube...

Re: Tire repair (Or Not)
It looked like a small phillips srewdriver made the puncher however the BMW kit has a reaming type tool to install it's plug, so the hole in question is about 2-3 mm. The puncher is about 3/8inch off center of tire.

Tire repair (Or Not)
Took a short 4 day 1300 mile trip and halfway out had a front tire flat in the rain. Tire was a new Dunlop Roadsmart that I had just put on about 750 miles ago. We had a BMW repair kit which utilizes plugs and CO2 to get us going again. Actually worked and held very well for the return ride. Now I k...
