That's the way I've been doing it for years. Keep it simple.

Re: Handlebar Grip Rubber
I have been very happy with the Grip Puppies! I'm on my second set. I wanted a thicker grip as I felt the stock grips felt too thin in diameter. Stock rubber is still underneath.

Wow that's bad news because I have always used it as well. I just did the tranny and FD last month and think I still had a little left.

.....or there was some kind of tipover or slight spill that caused the muffler to momentarily rub up against the tire.

I bought these last year. Love them. You get protection and air flow. These are clearance now so the sizes are limited. I slide them over my work pants although they are not an overpant.

It's your bike, do want you want to it. I'm not sure of the look you are going for....flat tracker maybe.
Go for it and then you can tell how you like it.

Re: Check ALL the bolts!
Another question on the braided wrap sleeving....I really like the idea but I was under the idea that the sleeving would need to be water resistant to protect the wires. Are the wires at risk with the braided sleeving or would they be OK?

Re: Check ALL the bolts!
Very nicely done! My wires look about the same. What did you use? How does it work? I usually just don't mess with any electronics so my temporary cheap fix was to wrap the wires in electrical tape! I really like what you did there!

Re: Cause of engine stain
I'm pretty sure there was some sort of voluntary bulletin that came out for BMW to replace those. I could be wrong. I do remember taking my bike in for state inspection one year and they asked me if they had replaced the QD's but I had already replaced them myself.
