Re: Signing off
I bet you are going to love that bike. I have ridden one. If I were in a position to bag the real world and head out on a bike for a indefinite period of time, the K1600GT would definitely be the ride. I am assuming there is one in my future, but I have a ways to go. Your input has been appreciated....

Re: Looking for a liner bag for the OEM hard cases
I have Bestem saddlebag liners. The price had come way down when I purchased them online, and I recall they seemed inexpensive to me at the time. I think I ordered them off eBay. I have been very happy with them. Quality appears to be so-so, but I am not hard on things and they have held up well.

Re: Anyone drop/crash their R12R whilst with BMW cases fitte
I got bumped from behind and both the bike and I slid (seperatly) at not very high speed. I had to replace a cylinder head protector, and the panniers where unscathed. All the scuffs on my bags are from getting my boots over them...

It's official.

I like this bike a lot, but am still going to wait for a water cooled boxer.

Wonderlich has a surprisingly large number of options.
The Vario levers might be what you are looking for. http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorc ... evers.html

Re: Oil pressure and temperature gauge location
My R1200R has an oil temp display next to the "remaining fuel estimate." I don't know how many degrees each bar is, and it doesn't bother me not to know as long as it stays in the satisfactory range.
Re: New Naked
Now Bill has me worried. I was hoping to upgrade to an R1200R with the water cooled engine in a few years. The reviews on the new GS motor are great. Looks like the water boxer RT is already on the way. Every time I read about a Triumph Speed Triple in a motorcycle magazine, I wonder why our roadste...
New Naked
This is not exactly an R1200R post, but there was a lot of chatter on here about the 90th anniversary air cooled boxer. Looks like the spy shots are out.

No question for me to buy a bike with ABS. I would not buy a BMW without it. Next one will have traction control too.

Re: Small air pump
The one I carry under my seat is made by Slime. I took it out of the carrying case so that it fits better. It comes with several plug types, and the one I left with the bike is the SAE plug that is the same as the pigtail I have on the battery for the charger.

Fuel filter? This has never happened to me. I don't like E10 moonshine in my gas, but my understanding is the engines are programmed for that.

electrical curiousity
Some times when I turn off the ignition and take the key out on my 2008 R1200R, the headlights and auxiliary electronics will stay on. It happened a while back and I didn't think anything about it (although I did have to replace my battery), but it happened several times recently. When it does occur...

Re: How do I break in to my saddlebags?
I bet a good locksmith could pick it easily. Be careful, locksmithing is kind of an internet scam right now and most of them would probably just drill it. You could probably drill it yourself and replace the tumblers later.

Re: R1200R - would it be a wise choice?
The new F800GT sure has some great reviews. Someday I will need a lighter bike than my R1200R, but that is a long time away. The trend right now seems to be away from the bigger bikes. Honda has some neat new stuff too. If you want to keep up with your friends, that is a whole other rationale for pu...

Re: Wunderlich bar riser question
Wonderlich tells you on the item listing of their website which bar risers need longer cables and lines. Usually a kit comes with it. I bet you will have no problems.

Re: No barbacks or risers
Rad, what brand is the handlebar brackets and where did you get them? That looks like it would work well with the F800ST handlebars I put on my R1200R. My riding position was too upright. This took a little load off my lower back and changed the ergonomics to something sportier.

aftermarket steeting damper recall
I have not seen any discussions on this board about using the Ohlins aftermarket steering damper, but it seemed like a good idea to post this since it is for the units made for R1200R's. There is a recall. http://www.autoevolution.com/news/hlins-steering-dampers-for-bmw-s1000rr-and-r1200r-recalled-6...
