Stopped twice yesterday

Out on Long Island near the beach around Long Beach area. First one was at a stoplight , 2nd was n a diner parking lot. Both stops had the same thing to say, " Hey, that is a beautiful bike". This actually happens a lot with this motorcycle. Love this bike. http://i.imgur.com/0A1YITl.jpg?2

Re: If you had to choose between Seat or Shock to upgrade

thanks to all ...think I will go with a new seat this season. I just wish I could find an aftermarket seat that did not require sending in your current seat!

If you had to choose between Seat or Shock to upgrade

and you could only do one this season, which would you choose and why?

Interested to hear everyone's opinions.
(I think I am leaning towards seat as a mere two hours causes a fair amount of discomfort. )

Perhaps off topic best insurance for people with points

Sorry if this is off topic and may need to be moved but am looking for any info or advice for insurance in USA or NYS for those of us who have some points. I have six points in 3 years..none were speeding..small / minor stuff really. However I am getting quotes for about $2200 at the major players. ...

nerve protection gloves?

With weather in the low 80s in the north east USA this weekend I did about 800 miles in two days and honestly haven't toured much at all this summer. By the end of yesterday my hand was really getting sore and will invest in a throttle control of some sort. After a quick googling I came across "...

kwikover instalation on 2009 R1200R

So I got the http://www.kwikover.com/ , and of course left the instructions at the office. I looked on the website but the instructions are a bit vague for our bike. If Don or anyone else who has one can shed some light on a successful installation and if you have any photos of such you would have m...

Can't get the seat off..any suggestions?

I stopped to get the tool kit out today to retighten the mirrors for the 5th time in two months--and will buy locktite soon! However I must have put the seat on wrong and now I can't get it off as hard as I try. The front of the seat is not "seated" 100% --it wobbles a tad, but I put the k...

Biarritz Blue maybe making a come back in 2012

http://www.omnimoto.it/magazine/7751/bmw-motorrad-colorazioni-2012-eicma-gs-re-k-s-r-st-650-800-1200-1300 Found this on Italian bike site and all models seem to be getting blue in 2012 but for some reason the R1200R is not mentioned at all. White is of course the faster and safest color but the Blu...

Running engine for short period of time

Currently doing alternate side of the street parking here till a spot opens up in a garage across the street. Most of the time when I move the bike to different street I will ride it for 6-10 minutes but sometimes it can be less than two minutes if I am running late. Is there any potential for long ...

Hey Don,
how long does it take to put that kwik cover back in place? It secures under the seat right?

Thanks

Re: 2007 compared to 2010

I had a 07 and now bought a new 09 left over. One thing to check on the 07 is that there were a few minor recalls regarding the brake lines and maybe something else a quick search brought this up: http://www.dealerrater.com/recalls/BMW/R-1200-R/ Nothing major really. The one thing I like about getti...

How would new shocks make this feel?

In Manhattan not only do we have potholes so big a family of four could live comfortably in them, but many of our manhole covers are not flush with the road--by a long shot. There's a pair of such manhole covers that are within two feet of each other around 28th and Lex that are about 2 -3 inches be...

Re: Where

it's there..you have to look hard though. Honestly the BMW motorcycle site leaves so much to be desired. They still have the 2009 color schemes on there! And the accessories open into a PDF that harkens back to 2004! Thank the heavens they build their bikes better than their site! http://www.bmwmoto...
