The US distributor and the Wilbers factory in Germany got into a tiff, so I'm not hearing much about Wilbers lately. R4R&R, put them on his 1150R before the big tiff happened. Last I heard he likes 'em. Said they were good to go right outta the box. Still waiting for the pics and ride report,btw...

Just got home about 3:30 PM. Just under 3500 miles, door to door. Ozark is only 100 miles farther than Marlinton WVa was for me. 1203 miles from my driveway in Florida to the motel parking lot. Even the Rockster liked this trip. I didn't have to add any oil, and fuel mileage jumped from 40-42 to 45-...

Oil filter info

I know this is old information to the old timers here, but may prove useful to some of the newer owners/members. The folling is a list of aftermarket oil filters that fit Rocksters and other R1150 engines. Sometimes you find yourself without a BMW filter, or whatever your favorite brand is. With thi...

I'm shooting for Thursday PM before nightfall, but we know how that usually works out.

I'm avoiding as much interstate and all big (or medium size) cities. The bash may be over before I get there

Hope all have safe traveling.

And, I had very little trouble with your post on my dial up, FYI. Most are impossible, but yours was OK.

Thanks for the pics and trip report. I was there the week prior to your trip. And I'm looking forward to stopping over for a few days on the way home from Ozark.

BTW, I believe NC 294 is jb44's neck of the woods.

I wish I had the eye for photography that you have.

The Appletree is a beautiful (I can't think of a better word to describe it) place.

I've never camped there, but we have hiked the trails surrounding the campground. My grandson & I did a 6.2 mile hike there in July. Very nice.

Check with Kyle Racing 831 394 1330 for the best price (I could find)on Ohlins. I received mine within three days of ordering them. They were set up for my weight and shipped direct by the US Ohlins importer. By purchasing from Klye racing, the Ohlins was no more expensive than the other top brands ...

My experience is that car upholstery shops will use foam that's too soft. Why not call Sargent, in Jacksonville, and get a price from them?

If McC makes it to Ozark, I'm sure he can share a room with someone. Motels always have extra cots, if needed.

Just plan how many miles a day you can/want to ride in a day, and plan accordingly.

You can do it.

I'd look for a 5.5 inch wheel from a Rockster or a R1100S rather than the 5.0 from the std r1150r. It'll take a 180/55 tire, the 5.0 takes a 170/60 tire. As long as you're looking for parts, watch out for upgrade suspension parts as well. Everyone seems to like Ohlins shocks, front and rear. Good lu...

Hello Hdyra, nice bike you got there. I liked the ride report too. My wife and I toured pretty much the same area two up on a Buell 6 or 7 yrs ago.

I 've enjoyed my visits to SF. It's a beautiful area. Hope things work out well for you.

(I've got a green '04 non abs.)

Here's mine. It's the smallest one Parabellum makes. I think it's called the "Cafe" ? At first I just put it on for trips and cold/wet weather(takes about 5 minutes once the hardware is installed & adjusted), but since I've gotten used to it, it stays on full time. http://shutter01.pic...

Are you gonna truck the 1150R in the back of the LT?

I say come on down, I'm sure Gypsy won't mind if you ride the couch, rather than a nice light, slick handling neckid bike like most everybody else.

That's a sharp looking bike, jb. I liked the 650GS that I demo'ed.

I think I would've kept the 1150 though. Two bikes is not too many, IMO.
