Re: Do You Drive A German Car?

Had a 996, 951, 944, and A4, and a variety of VWs. From an enjoyment perspective, any front engine is a waste of time no matter the hp. The mid or rear engined cars IMO provide a nimbler more responsive ride. Audis and Beemers are too heavy and VMWs are FWD so none of them would I consider a fun rid...

Sanitizing a sweaty gi during working hours

My office gym is holding open mat grappling in the mornings, some days gi, some days nogi. The nogi days are no problem, I can shove my nogi shirt and shorts in a plastic grocery bag and tie it up. It's the gi days that are going to be an issue since the grappling gis are a heavy weight and take up ...

Re: Sanitizing a sweaty gi during working hours

let me post in off-topic, I figured this is relevant since those driving a car can always hang the gi over the head rests on the seats to air out but with a bike that's not an option, I'll re-post

Re: All in one biking boots: tall sole, weatherproof, no laces, and work appropriate

Got the boots in, easy in/easy out but they are ridiculously uncomfortable and I do a decent amount of walking. Keeping a pair at work isn't a feasible option since I go to other locations so I'd have to keep a pair at each location so now the question becomes, aside from the waterproof factor, what...

Are groin injuries in motorcycle accidents common?

As part of my protective gear I usually wear a cup. That's probably the most hassle to go through when gearing up though I could save some time if I went with a removable cup short in lieu of the jock strap. The stats on accidents only break it down by injury or deat, not by body part (hip, knee, el...

Re: 12K Miles Weird

I too have a 2004 R1150r and the shop I take it to says to adjust the valves every 4k miles. I use fs oil in cars and bikes. For the cars they say 5k miles, I do it at 3k and it's jet black when I drain. Since wrt the bike I'm paranoid and oil is relatively cheap compared to other maintenance items,...

Re: Brighter headlight option(s)

are your driving lights an additional add-on to the stock headlight?
I read a thread on this here but didn't seem like a project I had the resources to tackle.
Now maybe I will

Re: How often do you replace your air filter?

I want to keep my bike a lot longer than 20k miles so I'll stay away from K&N but that makes me wonder, what about in the car? I currently have a K&N in my B6 A4 NA...

Re: Commuting to work in DC summer heat, don't like side cases, and I sweat profusely

I go from Springfield to Pentagon City too. We can meet up on the next bike/car repair project that either of us has. At first the HOV lanes seemed intimidatingly fast (when looking over at them while idling in the regular lanes) but I took Towerworkers' advice and now I'm using them. I have a jacke...

I currently have Metzlers, zero visible decrease in the >2k miles I've owned the bike.
I'll never buy Michelins after my 996 hydroplaned - a drop of water renders them useless

Re: Commuting to work in DC summer heat, don't like side cases, and I sweat profusely

I have summer biking pants that I am currently wearing over my dress slacks. They're fine for now but since I wear cheap suits, when it gets hotter those suit slacks are going to be all over me like, well...a cheap suit. So my options are: a) a pants change or b) these: https://www.ridersline.com.au...

Re: Commuting to work in DC summer heat, don't like side cases, and I sweat profusely

Where I work I can't wear jeans (which I hear don't offer much protection anyway) but I may be able to get away with these: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/rokker-riding-chinos Only problem is at $450 a pop, ouch! That's quite a bit more than the full panel testing you take after a rendezvous wi...

Apparently Gdrive doesn't translate well with the image tags here, I'll look for another Photobucket-esque site

That's what I did - I'm linking to photos on my gdrive.

If you right click where it says Image, and choose the Open image in new tab option, does it appear?

Re: Commuting to work in DC summer heat, don't like side cases, and I sweat profusely

Photobucket isn't usable for me. It doesn't tell you that a username is already in use until you've filled out and submitted the registration form. Then the fields are cleared and you start all over again. After spending the better part of the morning attempting to set up an account and straying far...

Then as long as I make sure to rinse off the front of the motor and the bottom of the instrument cluster, I should be fine, correct?
