Basmaf, Enough with the name calling! I'd bet there are numerous members who read this piece and still have no idea what a valve adjustment entails nor why it is performed. You, on the other hand, have jumped into self-maintenance and survived. Well done. Top marks. And what not. M PS Those high qua...

Re: Fair Price for 2002 R1150R

The 1100 series tends to hold their value in the $3K-5K range depending on overall cosmetics, mechanical condition, and market factors. The 1150 series looks to follow that pattern. A single spark 2002-2003 Roadster, non-ABS, good to very good cosmetics and fully up-to-date services (brake fluids es...

Re: R1150R Battery Replacement Problems

You need to ride for a tank or two of gas for the Motronic to re-establish the base fueling map based on TPS and other factors. Don't agonize over it - just be patient. 1. Motronic reset occurs any time you remove the battery power. Pulling Fuse #5 is superfluous if you have changed the battery. 2. ...

John,

Barrow Lane from CamFarm to mailboxes (1/4 mile - 200 feet elevation change - gravel base) needs shoveling. You seem to have some skills. I pay with beer, basketball, and BMW Oilhead maintenance. Okay?

Re: What is BMW waiting for after Toyota Recalls ?

Nice anecdotal reply. Numbers? Failure mode analysis? Which of those meet NHTSB standards for an investigation? Which reach the threshold for a recall? The ABS performance data suggest a flaw in the electronic interface and power supply, otherwise all testing (including the Euro Safety board tests) ...

Re: 100 Days Until Harriman Bash

Jim, Great resource. I find the area covered to be quintessential for the Bash. You should all ride those roads. I meanwhile will travel North, West and East along the KY-TN border areas of the empty roads. Steve, I am retired. It takes at least $1000.00 to get me to do anything for others anymore.
