Re: Very happy with my R12200R but what's the deal?
There just aren't that many around. I think the new ones are expensive for what you can get an RT for. Also, the K1300S is pretty fast. If you want a boxer twin for a sport bike, the R1200R seems like the only option. Lucky for me I found this board, these guys have been great and my bike is much im...

Re: Final drive oil change
Don't forget to get a new crush ring for the drain plug. Otherwise, it will probably drip until you change the oil again.
So what do you think of your local dealer?...

Re: Radar Detector
Thanks. This all makes a lot of sense. Too bad the Adaptec is sub par. I think I am going to try my Escort 9500 IX with a Techmount and see how it works visually. Using the suction cups that come with the Escort seems way too risky, even with a solid fairing. It has an audio jack built in if I need....

Re: Windshield success
Based on the urging I got from this board, I worked on the bracket some more and got it to fit in the bottom channel. Got a little vibration on some rough pavement in the mountains, but the X-tra tall windscreen and Doc C tilt block were rock solid on the interstate at 120. I am 5'11" with a 30...

Radar Detector
I am starting to feel the need for a radar detector. With the Cal Sci windscreen and Doc C tilt block, I seem to be going faster these days since the ride is so smooth. Yesterday I went past a bunch of state troopers and sheriffs, but luckily they already had drivers pulled over. I am leaning toward...

Re: Tank Bag Mounting?
I mounted an Eclipse sport bag that I inherited. It was easy to find the installation manual online and order a replacement for a strap that was missing. I couldn't help myself and got the backpack straps too. Seems like a very cost effective bag. http://www.eclipseluggage.com/luggage/200.html Since...

Hey Sunny, did you the title? If not, I would have an attorney send a certified letter asap.

Sargent vs BMW
I can get a BMW comfort seat for almost exactly the same price as the Sargent foam conversion. Plus I don't have to ship my existing seat or pay shipping. Any thoughts or comparisons are much appreciated. I have not been able to find any "cons" on this board about the BMW comfort seat, and...

Now I want to get a tank bag and go over 120 to see what happens. I'll get back to you on that.

Re: Advice on '11 R1200R
After a thorough perusing of this board I decided not to go with the Parabellum Scout, although I too like the look. Very happy with my Cal Sci windscreen and Don C block. Will get through this riding season before I ship my seat off to Sargent for the mod.

Re: Took a ride on a R1200RT
I went from an RT to an R, and the new bike will never be an RT. I have the Cal Sci extra tall windscreen and the tilt block. The extra weight of the RT was noticeable. The electric tilt on the RT is critical, because the resistance at full height at interstate speeds makes the bike less stable. The...

Re: How hard to push the motor?
I rode my '97 1100 RT like that most of the time. With the '09 1200R I just bought, I can't help but wind it out. It is just too much fun. I just wish the tach was easier to see.

Re: Windshield Question
Thanks Lifer and Basic User. I will see if I can get the bracket in the bottom U piece better. Got kind of frustrating after a while. I don't mind working on my bike, but I would much rather be out riding it.

Re: Windshield Question
I am totally stoked with my extra tall Cal Sci windscreen and Don C. block. Not an RT ride, but it is everything I need on the long twisty roads and interstate getting there. Glad that I called Cal Sci to order because the chart on the website would have given me too short a windshield. The propriet...

Albuquerque Day Trips
Anyone in the Albuquerque area of NM? Looking to take a weekday every couple of weeks for a day trip. I usually end up around 300 or 350 miles in a day to hit some really fun roads and head back to town. It sure is great to live so close to so many great motorcycle rides.

Re: 2010 R12R - 12,000 mi service @ dealer
I had a similar situation at the Honda dealership about my truck that is supposed to only take their proprietary transmission fluid. They used the warranty excuse with me, and when I mentioned the federal law to them, they quit giving me that line of bull. You should be able to document all the serv...

Re: Exhaust
Thanks guys. I am going to continue to monitor this thread to see if I can get any performance boost to rationalize a different exhaust system. Yep, Don, my first post. Sold my 97 RT and bought an 08R. Big difference. Getting a new windscreen and doing the Don C spacer mod. This is a great board.

Re: Exhaust
So is there an aftermarket exhaust that improves performance? I wouldn't mind something with a throatier sound, but it is performance that would make the investment worth it for me. A decrease in weight would be a nice benefit too.
