Re: Toot...toot.
I also use gear that is more visible. But I still ride like I am invisible.....defensively. I do not want to be lulled that my gear will somehow make my presence to be known. I have wanted to change my horn for years but never have. I am glad you brought this topic back up!

I have the string type but unless you need to plug to get where you are going, I would replace the tire.

Re: Where to get Decals other than OEM
Me too. I was looking at a used Rockster without the stripes at my dealer in 2006 and I didn't like the look at all. I priced the decals back then and thought the price was reasonable......I'm sure those decals will get harder to find as the years go by.sweatmark wrote: but I like the iconic stripes -

I guess I should have been more specific when I said coils. The spark plug coils/wires are what I replaced to fix my problem.

That's exactly what mine was doing. I would change the coils. I think I got them from BBY.

Re: Surge shows up
I would check for air leaks too. I had an issue a few years back. At idle, the RPM's would drop for a second and then come back up to normal. If it rained, it would cut out completely at idle. It ended up being one of the coils was bad or going bad. I replaced both and has been fine since. I also ha...

For less than a grand more....makes the RS a no brainer. Of course there will be no base model RS sent to the states so that figure will be closer to 18K. I guess they will have more colors to choose from because that brown is ugly!

Re: Ice Blue Rockster
Having the rims match really sets off that ice blue! I like the look. I always thought my gloss black bike would look nice with silver Rockster graphics. I believe I saw an 80th anniversary Rockster photo on this forum that was black with white (or silver) graphics rather than the white with the bla...

Same here. Reasonably priced. I'm happy with it.swamper wrote:I'm using sears/craftsman, 3/8 drive usually has the range you'll need.

Re: 2004 R1150R Fuel Leak Unique Situation?
A fuel leak on the right side is very often a leaking quick disconnect. The oem BMW QD's were little more than junk and stranded many riders (myself included). If they are original you'd be wise to replace them. I agree. Even if you find that the leak is coming from somewhere else....these should b...

Thanks for the good write up with pics.
I replaced mine a few years ago with the SS lines (old ones were rubber on the R) but used the the set up with a T with a crossover right behind the fender. I figured that there would be less chance of messing up than the two line install.

I would never do it but I have to say that I am impressed with the modifications. I am surprised that the company is making these parts for a bike that was put out 17 years ago.

If you have a local dealer you could get a BMW charger there. That is where I got mine. It would be nice to support a local dealer and get to know the staff at the parts counter.
Congrats on the bike!

We are at about $2.67 for regular grade here in VA. Not sure on high test. I never have budgeted for gas. It is cheaper to ride the bike than drive my truck!
