Yes winter is still here - had planned 1st NorCal trip this year for last weekend, but series of storms dumped snow on favorite mountain roads. This week's forecast calls for more cold/rain/snow in NorCal and Oregon.
But locally, it's cool rain for next 2 weeks. Cool + rain = heated grips + Gore-Tex.

Re: How is your day?
Riding to the coast today, sunny inland but expecting typical ocean overcast. Riding 1x per day all week. Rain starts tomorrow, so unplanned pandemic free time to be used for garage Rockster projects.

Sorry I missed the opportunity, Phil.
Was out riding, early spring sun - rare for us. And savoring the freedom before we are under house arrest.

Back way out to http://r1150r.org, where you'll see two menu frames. You want the outer frame and "User Rides".

Re: Good Time to Ride
Riding next weekend, cold wet storm will preclude mountain routes, so I'm riding the Pacific coast for a while. Time to do our part as motorcyclist, enjoy reduced traffic, fresh air, and support small businesses that remain open during and despite the pan-hysteria.
BYOTP.

You can get around that with a VPN. (Which is exactly what I used occasionally to watch BBC iPlayer whilst sojourning in France last year). James you're a genius. Recently subscribed to VPN since I connect to public WiFi while traveling. But I did not consider the location-based power. Just confirm...

Re: Parasitic Drain
This topic prompted a quick look at the SLP wiring schematic... I'm away from bike right now, but doesn't the flasher switch have backlight? Just a subtle reddish glow? The R28 wiring diagram shows no specific means of backlighting, so I assume (if I'm correct about the glow) that the switch has bui...

Re: heated handgrip wire routing
Saw your post at FB group. Enthusiastic but not always enlightened folks there. The OE handlebars have two holes, outboard of clamp, that allow each side's heated grip wire to pass from inside to outside. Remove bar end weight(s) to see the wire path from heated grip into handlebar interior. Note th...

Was just looking for MotoGP info on NBC Sports... nothing yet for Gold package subscription. They have quite a number of specialty sports and race series, and I'm expecting they will add MotoGP in similar fashion. Only problem: while NBC advertises these subscriptions as "Watch Anywhere", ...

Good tip. My current Rockster has the telltale rubber boot stain, and the bike is still low miles. Will check the vent.

Congratulations. It's the old adage about suspension being the best upgrade, and the R1150** family really responds well to the change. Shocks and good tires. Shocks and good tires and comfortable seat. Oh, and shorter Paralever strut rod.

Re: How Can You Tell if a Cable is Bad
So I cleaned the Bowden box then lubed with silicone spray per Chris Harris and have things placed back together just so I can see what difference the removal and cleaning made. It worked! Not sure exactly what I did with the exception of a good cleaning of all parts but my throttle cable is much e...

Re: starter/solenoid issue???
When you're testing what exactly? You can remove spark plugs (ground them to frame to allow spark discharge). You can disable fueling by disconnecting injector electrical connector.skylarmav1 wrote:What do you remove to keep the bike from starting when you are testing as it is cranking over?

Ditto that.Mrclubike wrote:Cant go by what the battery tender says
It just knows it aplied the proper voltage to the battery and then shut off
Put a volt meter on the stater battery positve and the Ground and see what voltage you have when cranking
Starter solenoid clicking - battery, insufficient juice.

Good point. I wonder if early R1150 single-spark covers will fit dual-spark?Mrclubike wrote:Just remember the 04 valve covers are expensive and not as common as the single plug covers
so if you screw this up it could be costly
You oil filler turned out well.
