Re: r1150r hard bags
You do know that can get a lockset from BMW that will allow you to use your ignition key for the bags? Still have to use a key but at least it's one you'll have with you when you're riding and if you loose it, you have much bigger problems than getting into the system cases.

Re: 18K - No valve adjustment needed?
In my experience, the valves tend to stay within the recommended range for many miles. As a result, most of the valve adjustment that I did were because the engine just didn't have the same "feel" as it did just after an adjustment. Virtually all of the time, the valves were within spec be...

You can also use the chrome-plated brass QD's made by Omega: Qty (2) FT-LCD170-05 Brass Coupling Bodies (inline) Qty (2) FT-LCD220-05 Brass Coupling Insert (straight) http://www.omega.com/ Not sure if these are more or les $ than the ones at BeemerBoneyard but they are a satisfactory alternative. Sorry -- I assumed that you'd simply ride the bike to the other shop and spending some saddle time wouldn't be a problem. Charlie " . . . sarcasm is often classified a type of verbal irony — stating the opposite of the intended meaning, e.g. using "that's fantastic" to mean "that...

Re: 3-series oil filter fits R1150R?
The BMW filter is nothing special Not sure that everyone will agree with you on that. I believe it was Cyclerob who some time back dissected the Mahle filter and posted the results on this forum. His analysis showed that the quality of the filter media, gaskets, bypass valving and overall construct...

I will second what Twindave says about Aeroflow. I've used both the BMW Sport Screen and the Aeroflow Sport Half-Fairing and the design, quality, fit and finish of the latter is quite a bit better. The Aeroflow has nicely designed split-screen system that works very well in deflecting air flow. In a...

Apparently, Montgomery Cycle in Hatfield, PA (Montco - maybe 15 miles northwest of CC Phila) is now also a BMW dealer. So, the 5th largest metro area in the US has now swung from zero BMW dealers to 2 in an matter of months.

Thanks Phil, your advice was right on the money: A little elbow grease was all it took.
Both injectors will be on their way tomorrow for testing and cleaning thanks to you.

Help removing injectors
Sorry all, this is my second request for help on this subject. I'm trying to remove both fuel injectors to get them tested, cleaned or rebuilt if needed. While this looked like a straightforward task, I'm kind of stuck and don't wan't to force anything and potentially really screw things up. It was ...

Removing fuel injectors
As part of the (very) gradual rehabilition of my bike, I need to get my fuel injectors tested. This of course requires removing them. I don't have access to an aftermarket manual and it's not clear to me from the diagrams that I do have access to just how the injector and fuel supply hose are remove...

Re: sidebags 1150R
Not to be too trite but even though beauty is in the eye of the beholder, my feeling is that if form follows function, it's beautiful. This is certainly true for the system cases. As others have said, they are waterproof, have mininal impact on handling and fuel economy, are relatively spacious and ...

Re: Newbie looking at 2004 R1150RT - P Is it worth the hassle
I can tell you from experience that replacing the wire harness is a very tedious job. Not particularly challenging but tedious and time consuming. There are at least 2 of us on this board who've done it though, so if you want to try it you'll be able to get some help. The most difficult task is loca...

Robert -- Not sure if you are in the US, Canada, Oz or GB: The superfluous "u" in "labor day" seems to indicate one of the latter 3 but I believe that particular holiday is peculiar to the States. No matter though in these days of the Net and international shipping. I think you w...

Re: What I saw in my oil site glass
It seems highly unlikely to me that a piece of fabric could have found its way through and into the crankcase. The hypothesis by ebincia seems much more plausible. I have seen the cloudy condensate he talks about in my crankcase on 2 occasions - both were the day after short rides in cold weather. T...

Re: 2002 R1150R gas mileage
The R1150R seems to be a bit unusual in that more spirited riding often returns better fuel economy. When my Roadster was actually on the road, the fuel warning light nearly always came on at about 130 miles in city/suburban riding. On the highway, especially at higher speeds (80 - 90 mph), the ligh...
