Re: Proud new R1150R owner

I had good luck with Continental Sport Attack and ME 880's are good. My pilot roads performed well but lasted poorly - maybe too soft of a compound.

Re: Decarboning pistons/exhaust chambers?

Don't you all know that increased carbon build-up means decreased headspace volume above the piston which results in higher compression? =D> =D> =D>

Carbon build-up is like patina on fine antiques - DON'T REMOVE IT!!!

Obviously I am kidding. I think I will try the seafoam myself.

Re: Clutch Bleed - Help Needed

Cool - thanks

I was pleased when I first attempted this as the old fluid was nice and clear and not smelly. I may be just being wishful but it seems like the clutch operates a tiny bit more smoothly now. :-k

Re: Clutch Bleed - Help Needed

I didn't - I used DOT 4

So - someone answer my question. If everything seems to be working ok then I must have done it right?

Re: Clutch Bleed - Help Needed

I attempted this again this late afternoon. I eliminated the check valve and screwed the bleeder directly into the line. I got quite a few more threads doing it that way and didn't seem to be leaking around the bleeder threads either. Buttoned her up and clutch pressure seems ok now. Bike runs and s...

That's a 9 hour super-slab for me IF I don't stop for fuel or food. I'll have to ponder on it for a while but it's on my radar. Thanks for posting.

Re: running awful

I would go with water in fuel as well. It does sound like you dd everything you could to eliminate what there may be left. Good luck and keep us posted after you button her back up.

Clutch Bleed - Help Needed

Can someone provide me with brief step by step instructions to bleed my clutch? I am wanting to employ the use of a mityvac and a bmw bleed nipple I tried last night and I failed miserably. I assumed since I was using the mityvac that I didn't need to pump the clutch handle. Just straighten me out i...

Re: What's a good price for a Pirate's Lair R1150R Backrest?

Wish there was something like this for my R1150RS. I had the pirate's lair backrest for my R1150R and my wife really liked it.

Re: ABS service

Never mind - I think after reading further that: If you've been less than dilligent about doing this every year you follow: ORIGINAL I NEW ADDENDUM II NEW ADDENDUM III ORIGINAL IV Once you've purged and are doing so annually you follow: ORIGINAL I ORIGINAL II ORIGINAL III ORIGINAL IV Am I correct?

Re: ABS service

Iowabeakster - again thanks for all your work here. I 'think' I am going to attempt this on my RS.

My question for you is as follows:

Can I just copy the addendum or do I need to whole original procedure and then intermingle the addendum with it?

Thanks

Re: 2004 vs 2005/2006 R1150R

Pyrate - rest assured that you would be happy with either 6-gear combination. Only difference is the 6th OD tranny doesn't like cruising in 6th at really below 70mph so you would end up higher revs in 5th until you get above 70 then would shift to 6th.

Re: 2004 vs 2005/2006 R1150R

Pyrate - I don't think you will find any differences between the expressed years. I do not think that there were any significant (if any at all) changes between 2004/2005. My guess is that during 2003 and 2004, BMW was offering really fantastic financing (financing was a big factor in my original pu...
