Re: Brake Pad Replacement with ABS
very easy to just change the pads! cant really mess that part up(though I did once lol) but its not a bad idea to bleed the system, or flush it when doing the pads.

Re: Happy New Year to all and..................
its important right now, during this ridiculous winter cold snap, to use at least a 60/40 mix on the oilhead. happy new year folks, hope you all ride many miles, and ride safe! its funny... I was riding comfortably on December 22nd, 4 days later, it was arctic winter, only seeing double digits once ...

Re: How long can I leave it on the sidestand?
mine is on the sidestand for most of its life. the only time its on the center is to work on it, or those times I want to jam as much gas in it as I can. Or for storage.
Ive seen the smoke puff maybe 4 times, it is of no concern to me.

never. fat boy does nothing different than an R. and certainly doesnt do it better. unless noise and discomfort is the mark youre trying to hit.

Re: Oilhead Cam Chain tensioner and Guide Rail

I just had no clutch at all.... so... neutral...walk bike forward, get it moving, pop into first.... not the most fun, but I wasnt stranded! and, not ...

Re: Above 32 degrees but with a frost advisory ... do you still ride?
for commuting I have a few rules.....above 32 when I get up, and sunny and dry when its time to go. also take into account the forecast for after work. as i don't care for being miserable both ways LOL. no precip. and i like to see it close to 50 and sunny, not windy. in early spring, I change this ...

Re: Control of turns
i find my R corners nearly as well as my old FZ1. Especially after the servo removal. Low COG. Theres an funny wives tale that BMW boxers don't corner or lean well. And that the heads(valve covers) hit the ground if you do  sorta true, but pegs scrape too. :) see photo: https://i.pinimg.com/ori...

I just shrug my shoulders and shake my head lol
theres a one-fingered gesture you could TRY. but you might get punched for doing so.

My 2002 has the screw. It is slightly less simple to use than a standard bleed screw. But works.
I left mine. it works fine.

Re: Spline concerns on Rockster with 40,000 miles
Just a thought Peels - when you split your bike for the clutch job, ¿ did you lube the splines with a pea-sized blob of Staburags on a toothbrush ? I only ask coz there's a coupla guys on the 'other ' Rockster / R1150R forum who insist that lubrification is unnecessary at that point in the drive-tr...

i'm all out of snoojits.
and quit fags about 15 yrs ago.
thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the clutch available with the added length. Ill have to think about that if/when I pull the bike apart again.

Re: How many mpg are you getting on your R1150r
Attention BMW Commuters - chip your Boxer in for a Honda "New Concept" 700cc twin if you're in the USA, where the much better 750cc twin seems to be banned. I get between 80 and 90 miles to the gallon riding normally with the usual amount of throttle-wrist. It's half of a Honda "Jazz...

Re: Where to mount a phone?
FWIW - Damaged an iPhone while mounted to handlebar via RAM mount (clamp + short arm + device mount) due to vibration. The mount assembly appeared to amplify bike vibration until phone bricked. I'm still using a similar phone mount strategy, but remove phone on occasion if I see excessive shaking.....

Re: Where to mount a phone?
I have this on mine. Love it. phone pops in and out in 2 seconds every morning. held in by spring tension, its a 6 plus with otterbox. I have 2 1500+mile trips on it. your concern about being out in the elements is a good one. I lost my old phone to water intrusion that way LOL. then stuffed it in m...
