There are a multitude of them to choose from. The link below is a Youtube video of one (a more BMW specific app) which is using a cell phone app.
The devices are around £10-20 and the apps are mostly free

OBD2 v 911
I've ordered a WiFi ODB2 diagnostic tool that connects to various Android and iPhone apps and a lot of people on other BMW motorcycle forums seem to see them as a gimmick and not a good alternative to the 911 tool.
Can anyone give me the real differences between these seemingly comparable tools?

Back in the fold
Knew I would eventually succumb to another 'R' and I found a real nice one. 2012 in red with just over 2,500 miles on the odo. Fully loaded with heated grips, rack and box, pannier frames, ESA, ABS and sports screen. Arrives next Monday.

These are now available from Optimate that fit in a standard BMW DIN plug. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/453/31631839003_3d027edc57_z.jpg Sales blurb: The OptiMate USB’s dual output plug meets important rider criteria: • Turns off automatically to avoid excess current drain. • Will not flatten the b...

Re: Ordering new "R" on Thursday
Picked it up this morning and after 75 miles home on sh*tty roads it's washed off and now has a Puig sport screen and GS hand guards.

Re: Ordering new "R" on Thursday
I believe the colour is called "Thunder Grey" Barkbusters are good guards but I've decided on OEM GS LC guards with the transparent Givi extensions from my GS. Got an as new set last night on Ebay for £35 (45$) The Rox risers are going to be a fiddle to fit as the clutch line has to be re-...

Re: Anybody else preorder the Mudsling rear fender guard?
There's an alternative to the Mudsling if price is an issue. I've just ordered the Wunderlich Splash Guard which is a very similar product but a whole lot cheaper over here in the UK. Current conversion to US$ is 189$ for Mudsling and 88$ for Wunderlich part. http://www.wunderlich.de/shop/en/splash-...

Ordering new "R" on Thursday
Swapping '14 GS TE for new "R Exclusive" and hoping for delivery before Christmas 8) There are a couple of bits on the GS that I think will move over onto the R and if anyone can confirm that would be a great help. First is a set of Rox Risers which I believe are the same bar diameter on t...

Lighten the throttle
Having previously been pampered with fly-by-wire throttle I'm finding the 12R throttle rather heavy in operation. Is there a way of easying the required twist? Lighter throttle return springs?

Re: New PIAA LED lights - and mounting
Nice setup Don.
My switch preference would be the GSA auxiliary light switch that utilises the stock left hand switchgear and replace the rear piece. Only snag is the price!!
Parts 9,10,11

Carrying tools
I've moved all the electrics from the rear of the seat to allow fitting of an Autocom and Kenwood PMR setup, but I'm still shy of somewhere to keep my puncture repair kit and Airman pump. Toolroll is in OEM position strapped under seat. Has anyone seen a neat toolbox and mount location that's availa...

Re: Rear box mounting
Times up Don! Brackets arrived from Spain this am - 12 days from order so was getting worried as off to Scotland for 3 days next tuesday. Made up a rough mounting plate as a base for the SHAD mounts and then just had to drill holes on plate to locate Tiger Explorer mount and then box mounted direct ...

Re: Tank capacity
I used that tankful today on a ride with friends. A mix of fast main roads (80-90mph), 60-70mph back roads and some tight and twisty real back roads (50-60mph).
Light came on as I got into our village at 231 miles, so very pleased. Showing 59 mpg (UK).

Tank capacity
Filled up to brim for first time since I got the bike today. 20 miles showing on countdown and it took just over 21 litres. Just checked handbook and it says 18 litres usable capacity which I presumed was including the reserve. Is that not correct?

Re: Rear box mounting
Thanks Don, but I've got mounting kit on its way from Spain as we speak. I'll post plenty of warning when it's fitted so you can avert your eyes. LOL It's the perfect size for touring. Just come back from an 11 day 3,000 mile tour of Austria, Germany and Italy and that box was my only luggage. Perfe...
