Re: Beakster Bash "Sweet" 16!! - Franklin WV 5/15-5/19

Hey Mike, Just going to throw this out for comment...What about offering either a "T" or a patch/ or sticker?(as in one or the other) I'd buy a "T" but rarely ware them any more, 'course I might be the exception. I have noticed that stickons (sic) are getting more popular. Would ...

Re: U shaped fitment on forward exhaust attachment bar

This is probably ??a WAG by the dealer that I purchased my Rock from ( Irv Sever BMW orange county CA) but when I asked about that loop the general feeling was it was a tie down for linking a locking wire/cable and securing stuff to the machine....maybe a stretch. Never have used it..Ha! but I'm sur...

Yeah, somebody told me once that if you could iron out WV flat it would be as big as Texas!

Last time I crossed the state I didn't see a flat place anywhere.

They even had to carve out a flat place on a mountain for the Charleston air port!

Throw me in that briar patch!

Maybe see you there!!!! Looks to be a great place in the Appalachian chain. Really different than the western mountains.

That will require a new set of Shinkos for sure!

Re: Sidecases - Really Stumped On This One

FWIW Mine have been flawless for 14 years. I think its the best system out there or at least the best I have ever used. They aren't water proof but almost. If your planning a long trip and expecting to encounter WX, its a good idea to use plastic bags for the contents. I use the heavy duty plastic g...

Re: Need new tires....what do you like?

Yeah, there is a time to go fast and a time to mellow out and save the rubber. Anybody looking for mileage should look for dual compound rubber, it does work well. Barista is correct, he is OVER thinking this tire selection. The internet is full of....hyperbole embellishment and just plain BS. Moto ...

Re: Need new tires....what do you like?

FWIW In my experience for long distance travel in a high HP machine (more than 100 hp to the ground), you need a dual compound tire and raise the pressure up to the limit. But, The most important thing is to make a concentrated effort to be S-m-o=o-t-h with the throttle, no blitz slab entries and no...

Re: Baby, it's cold out there...

When it gets really hot(100+) you need to protect yourself from the air while riding because its like being in a convection oven. So in these very hot conditions mesh gear that lets the hot air in will dehydrate you very quickly. Protect the exposed skin especially the neck 'cause all the blood in t...

Re: Baby, it's cold out there...

wind chill factor and man is it true! Get out on a 30 deg day and ride the slab at 80+ and...baby that's COLD! Miserable in fact, unless you have full electric above the waist minimum. I even have bat powered heated socks! But in the states I never ride below freezing(unless there is no choice) 'cau...

Re: Front Shock Cover

Yes,
My point is that he wants these covers for protection of the shock shafts. They really don't need protection in my experience. So if you install covers then you have collected more "crud" all over the covers?!

Ugh!

Re: Front Shock Cover

I have had Ohlins on my rockster since new and they have been rebuilt about 7 or 8 times and I have never had to replace a shaft on either.

No unusual maintence has ever been applied. I like to be able to keep an eye on the shaft for any signs of leaking.

Re: Sargent Seat Opinions

I've had a Sargent seat on my rockster from the beginning...14 years. The quality speaks for itself. The small storage compartment in the bottom is very handy for the manual and other docs. One thing that is really good is that its flat and fairly wide so you can supplement/fit an air cushion which ...

As a note to this caper..I have found the product "Deoxit" to be superior in corrosion prevention. Once a year I do "heavy" maintence on my machine and use this product on the fuses and some of the plugs..good stuff!
