I got my kid a used Yamaha BW-80 when he was 6 years old. 2 fat tires, 3 gears but no clutch. When he was 9, we traded up to a Honda XR with a clutch. He is 12 now, and a real log jumper.

Nothing teaches responsibility, risk, reward, and rip roaring fun better IMHO.

When I bought my R in 2003, I asked the dealer about the usual RPM limits during break in. He told me to ride it HARD from the start. "Don't beat it, but be sure to use the entire powerband often." It turned out to be good advice. I twist the throttle hard, and venture into the party zone ...

On July 2nd 2005, I hit the pavement face and shoulder first with a Nolan NE100 flip face. Although I got busted up pretty good, my smile and striking good looks are still intact. (Of course everyone is looking good on the net) My insurance company sent me a check for a new helmet, and there is noth...

that's what I do GeoffJ. My Garmin StreetPilot goes on my bike, and in my auto. Cyclegadgets has all the stuff for mounting. Garmin is about to release a new 2710 model with Mp3, XM Radio and XM Nav Traffic and Weather. too pricey for me though, but it's as close to the holy grail bike gadget I have...

I get that mag from BMW Finance. Too many cars in it, usually one bike article. The mag seem backwards, y'know what I mean?

308, if you have any trouble, PM me an email address. A member here (sweatmark!) sent me an email loaded with instructions and detailed pics a few years ago ago when I bought mine.

I can forward that email to you if you need it.

I happened to open that bikini pic in work. There was someone within eyeshot and I got a awful sinking feeling I was about to get reprimanded or even canned. The Boxer was awesome though, as it caught someone's attention behind me, as I was about to show off the joy of motorcycles, scrolling down..d...

Not sure a currency converter portrays the actual costs of the 2 bikes in Canada. BMW Canada lists the MSRP on the K1200GT as $24,500 Canadian, perhaps that price has increased? The Yamaha Canada website has 2 FJR1300 models: The A model for $18,899.00 CDN. The AE model for $20,999.00 CDN. BMW's hav...

Sorry, I am not Doug, but here is my take: This is the main section for the R1150R website. Only R1150R (or at least i.e.-R1150R- motorycle-based) topics should go in here. to-mat-o vs. to-mot-o? I'll take some "Off-topic" Eye Candy ASAP. I need new PC wallpaper. The guy standing in front ...

My R1150R also cranks a lot more to start in colder temps. When it gets real cold, I will need a few hours of a battery tender else I can kill the battery.

I recommend getting a battery tender and leaving it plugged into your accessory port during your cold season.
