Been there, done that

All that matters is that you're okay. Bike can be replaced, like you said they make 'em everyday. My accident wasn't as clean as yours, mine was the result of plain ol' stupidity, all my fault. Like those here told me: learn from it, sound like you did, and try not to relive it every few minutes... ...

Seriouly, donate. Become a Lifer, I DID! And since moving to the R1150R.net diet I have lost 40 lbs, I'm now taller, I can drop a bike much faster, and I bitch less about &%#$% oil checking ritual we must perform on these bikes. I even think most of my hair has since grown back...including place...

The high Canadian Dollar and motorcycle prices

This is mostly for the Canadians in the crowd: Guys, I have to get this off of my chest: As the winter draws near, I have to think about what bike I will buy / order, come February. As much as I want the K12R, I am having a hard time digesting the fact that I have to pay close to $4000 more for a bi...

What a great article. I probably would not have bought my RR if I had read this first, and since owning an RR and hating the oil issue I'll never buy another, though I loved my RR, that oil issue always pissed me off. Not a knock against the bike, and my flame suit is hanging in the closet...

Are you talking about the K or R? Sorry, I meant the Buell Firebolt XB12R - that's what I had before I traded it in for my Rockster. Paul WAIT! Time-out! I'm actually going to be test riding a Ulysses XB12X on Thursday. Tell me, what is the brake dive like on those bikes? Also, Buell is coming out ...

Yes, and make sure to change your headlight fluid.

Re: R1150R VS K1200R Spec questions Expert help needed

I need to know some things. A friend of mine wrecked his R1150R and bought a new K1200R. It is massively more powerful than the R. What is it that gives the K so much more horsepower and torque with only about 50cc more displacement? My limited knowledge of engine design prohibits my understanding....

K1200R as a touring machine

I know this bike is EXCELLENT for short hops, but what about setting it up for long distance ride...say a 5000 Km round trip? I know I can get panneirs for it, and I plan on putting on the sport windshield. What else should I consider? Keep in mind I don't have the bike yet. I won't put money on one...

MS Office on the Mac is better than the PC version, and I have not had any compatibility issues for over 3 years. I have been a Mac guy since the late 80s. Yes it is isn't it. I noticed that the latest version of the PC version of Office is nice, with a lot of eye-candy. Almost as good as Office 20...

My next bike will either be a F800ST, K1200RS, Sprint ST, or Ducati ST3. I know the K1200RS isn't exactly in the same category, but it's close enough. As stated here, everyone I've talked to has raved about the 1050 engine in the Sprint ST. I hate decisions... I think a good decision is to get one ...

Chains aren't a big deal if you've got a centerstand. Just hoist it up every 300 miles and spray some chain lube on it. Adjustments on well-made bikes with well-made chains only seem to be needed at 4K+ intervals. If you're lazy you can just get a ScottOiler and really forget about it in the meanti...

The 'old' Sprint was a very well established workhorse designed to compete head-on with the Honda VFR. They are well rated by owners, overlooked by most & seem like good bikes for doing big miles. The new Sprint ST was designed to be on the sporty end of sport-touring & everything I read sa...

You know, every time you jump brands you buy into another whole outlook on the sport. Triumph owners are a great bunch and you could have a lot of fun at their rallies. I've been to one in MO and we had a fine time. They were happy to have us. We were on K12RS's We were, however, the only attendees...

BMW riders are spoiled with the Paralever rear drive and the lack of maintenance. However, chains, properly maintained transmit power with less friction loss than a BMW shaft system and require only routine maintenance. Cleaning with a spray of WD40 and lubing with some chain wax containing moly wi...
