Can you send a photo of the spot you're seeing the leak?

Re: Engine Misses
I really think that trying to diagnose this without a diagnostics tool will become expensive, as lots of people have lots of ideas - and as usual - the one that fixes the problem (if there is one) will be the last one tried. It's a case where either an independent with a diagnostics tool, or a deale...

Gave you a thumbs up on the MOA website. It's good when things work.Newportcycle wrote:I've replaced the sensor. ABS and speedometer are now functioning normally.

Re: Tank bag,;what are my options
I've used RKA bags - the 3 point mounting ones, and currently am using a SIDI bag that mounts to the gas filler area with an adaptor. Both work. I probably have some photos of each on the bike if you're curious, but since we can't upload photos here it's not too easy to get them to you. Send me an e...

Re: 2011 - R1200r K27 - Code 23971 -Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
12.35m-Ohms sounds like the default reading of the VOM on an open circuit.. with perhaps a bit of cross-talk between connectors. As a WAG - I'd expect to see less than 15k-Ohms, probably considerably less. A high impedance device for that use would end up working like an antenna - so it would be eff...

Re: 2011 - R1200r K27 - Code 23971 -Rear Wheel Speed Sensor
12Mohms seems awfully high for that sensor. I would have to guess you've identified the problem. Is the cable chafed or pinched? It's routed rather oddly so as to avoid hitting the brake rotor, and if it isn't in just the right spot - it can wear through and all the good smoke comes out.

Re: Rubbery Part Cracking
Thanks. One reason I addressed it on this service visit is that it was time for brake fluid replacement, and I figured that servicing these parts would require a brake line disconnect, so..... As for the ball joint boot, which is in good shape, I long ago wrapped some vinyl around it, a boot for th...

Re: Rubbery Part Cracking
I'd suggest replacing them. The dealer is correct - the actual fork/oil seal is under the dust seal, but the dust seal wipes things like squished bugs off the fork tubes so they don't attack the actual oil seal. On your '07 this isn't a big deal. You need a way to hold the front end up, or at least ...

Oktoberfest Weekend, Sept 16th-18th, in the German Catskills
Folks, Our local club has run an event for the past 4 years that coincided with the Hunter Mountain "Colors in the Catskills".. (October) Due to the consistently miserable weather we've experienced that weekend, and the diminishing interest in CinC (it was down to almost no motorcycle vend...

Re: is this the clutch or worse?
Hi Leonardo, Dunno what to say. The amount of clutch release/engagement in a city has to be 10x the amount a bike would otherwise see. I think the best I can offer is to trust the bike to get going and keep going with very little slippage when taking off. The somewhat low gearing of the R12R makes i...

Re: is this the clutch or worse?
It's a clutch. Rare on our bikes - but I guess it happens. Likely as others posited - leaking fluid of some type on the disk caused the failure. This won't be a cheap repair (I can suggest someone in NJ who would be less expensive than a dealer - but you'd have to get it to him. I know BMW-NY doesn'...

Re: Low mile r1150r or high mile r1200r
I'd have to agree with N8 - but depending on the condition and service records available on the R1200R - the price is not out of line. I sold mine for considerably more then that last fall with 97,000 miles on it (just because a 2012 R12R came along with no miles on it that I couldn't pass up..) The...

Re: CENTRE STAND ISSUES
I believe loctite(tm) is used - some heat may help the bolts to release. I like to use a very large old soldering iron my father passed on to me (made for soldering copper roofs) - but careful use of a torch would probably also work. Just don't get things so hot that paint starts melting.

Re: Low seats
And as a reference point - the "low comfort" seat is the same height as the "standard un-comfort" seat. It's also a bit wider around the nose/tank area, so your legs at a stop aren't quite as long. Tried that swap - didn't work out for me. What did work (and I moved the seat from...

winkeldc,
Since you seem to have a GS911 - is there a reason you didn't use the brake-bleed function in the GS-911? It activates the pump, and if there is any trapped air, that's the way to break it loose.

Re: Tankbags?
Interesting Bill, I can't recall how my '07 was held together, but they did originally list that same mount for the '07. Given the price of the cap assembly it's not worth getting a newer one. Mebbe one from BeemerBoneyard? Mike's a member here and rides an R1200R. If you described what you want bet...

Re: Tankbags?
I was at the BMW dealership last week getting my flange replaced and took a look at a 2012 and 2013 R12R. The gas cap is significantly different than my 2009 (I'm assuming the '07 is the same as an '09). My filler has no mounting screws visible from the top. After the filler cap is released and lif...

Re: My clock stops when the ignition is off. Anyone else?
That's happened a time or two recently on my '07, which still has its original fuel strip. As I understand it, the computation of mileage remaining is done by the ZFE, based on distance traveled and fuel level readings. The fuel strip turns off with the ignition. Because a correctly-operating bike ...
