Rob, It sounds like things are going to work out OK. I would love 52 weeks of "paid vacation", especially the year before I planned to retire. Are you going to leave PA now, or stay for another year? Those oilhead guys in N. Georgia are gonna be happy campers with your expertise in the are...

Al, I have the "European" standard 6th gear. .80 is the raito. The new 04 bikes have the option on 6th gear. Overdrive(0.70) is an extra charge, while my 6th gear is considered standard. I may have an anomoly for R's in the USA. There is definitely a difference, because my "old" ...

I am not your height, but I am interested to seeiing some of the Cee Bailey's screens in person. I hoe that they have a display at the MOA Rally in Lima, OH.

It is too bad you can't take a test ride with a windshield.

I had the overdrive on my first R, and have the shorter 6th on my current R. I like the shorter 6th gear a bit more, becuase it is a bit more useable. I do not have to downshift to pass as much, and 80 mph on the speedo is about 4500 RPM. BTW, I did not realize I had the shorter 6th gear on the new ...

I woould have said to ride the R faster, but if you are considering track days the SV gets the nod. Easier to maintain, and less expensive up front.

They may defile your seat even if the bike is locked up.

You do not know how many people are jealous of your commute. It sounds liek a great way to have a good attitude when you arrive at work, and when you return home.

I almost never lock it. I usually do not even use the fork lock, either. I have used locks once or twice, but for the most part I am pretty close to the bike, or I am really off the beaten path. Where are you going? That would be the more important question. If you are heading to downtown Detroit, t...

simon.d,
BMW NA does not import the 850R into the US(not sure about Canada). Just out of curiousity, what is the price difference between the 850 and 1150?

I have no experience with the airhawk, but for that price you may consider looking into a Sargeant seat. $300 seems astronomically high.

I am provided with a pickup truck by my employer, so I drive it to work. :D

I wish I could ride on occasion, but the payload on the bike is a little limited. And I also spend most of the day on the phone.

Great pics Mike.

I fondly remember hiking, and mountain biking, in the Lake District way back in 96. It is a gorgeous area. :smt023

Beautiful pics. Your bike looks very clean.

I am very jealous, because it snowed here today.
