Re: Tire Time
i went with the stinko 009 mostly because of this thread. switched from avons that had some time but i picked up a nail in the rear, so for less than the cost of your pilot three rear, i am rolling a new set of rubber that is going to be just fine. have spent the money on metz, mich, pirelli, dunlop...

Re: Tire Time
My local BMW/Triumph dealer was able to order me a Metzeler Z6 last week. $79. I picked it up Saturday and mounted/balanced it today. I love the feeling of a fresh front tire...like power steering! So far my mileage *I* got on my tires: Front tire changes model miles D208 12925 Z6 11101 Z6 10787 AV...

Success, took a while. I have never worked on the boxer before. Had her since last July, and been trouble free so far. burns quite a bit of oil, i have added a couple of quarts over the course of a year of ownership. started back up fine, what i noticed is a really loud ticking that is coming from t...

MThomas, After almost 64,000 miles and almost 9 years of riding my 2002 R1150R I learned many things. http://i142.photobucket.com/albums/r87/CycleRob/Bike/th_CycleRob-POW.jpg Let me give you the data you need to understand your bike's mysterious engine. We are trying to help you here but you seem t...

Re: (new rider) wind while riding at 50 mph uncomfortable
Kudos for taking the MSF course to learn the basics, but as the sayings go, "experience is the best teacher", and "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger". City riding is a tough way to learn since there are so many cages to deal with before you know how to ride well enough to...

Re: (new rider) wind while riding at 50 mph uncomfortable
make slow relaxed moves and be sure to NOT tense up, or grip the bars hard. don't stare at anything (sight fixation), look far down the road and breathe, be aware of your breath. read "proficient motorcycling" by david hough. it's superb for street riding, it will teach you, make you think...

Re: Besides Ohlins and Wilbers........
IMO rear for sure. made a massive difference on the GS650. all i did to the front was add washers to tighten the springs and jump up to 15 weight fork oilracurley wrote:So, let's say you were just going to upgrade one, at least for now.
Front or rear? Or, don't bother.

What else are you running for suspension upgrade.?? I am niggardly curmudgeon and a life long member of CBOA (Cheap B@stards Of America) looking for a less expensive alternative to the choppy handling showa shocks. There is no need to explain the advantages of parting with $1300 to upgrade, I get it...

Re: Left nut hurts & sweating on one side after evening ride
I know this can't be related but I have to ask about the uncanny coincidence. I'm a beginner and a couple evenings last week I took the bike out for 30 min rides in the park to practice. A day or two later my left nut was sore and I ran a fever and I'm sweating from only one side of my body, weird....

Re: Wind noise
i watched a video today about some pricey ones. Flare audio makes some fancy plugs in aluminum and titanium. my guess is they let in more noise than foamy ones tho. most likely your helmet makes whistley wind, even so if you insert foam plugs in the proper manner you should be protected. picked up a...
