Re: Sidestand (Kickstand) modification
So you're pre op or post op? Good luck with the case and the rehab! Your post hit a nerve though. I, too, miss that little nub on the sidestand, present on the 1150. That is an excellent idea and, although I am now accustomed to the stand, your idea will make life easier. Thanks, Shakey Does it get ...

Re: Wheel Flange recall
Thanks for the heads up. Is this a Britain only thing? Certainly the report prompted a trip with flashlight to inspect the flanges and no cracks were seen, still... Maybe because I am the one to remove and reinstall the wheels, and I use a torque wrench? To paraphrase Otis Redding, I "worry&quo...

Thanks, skylarmav...appreciate it. check out the others. Stella! now lives in College Station, Tx, but I ride her sister, Blanche DuBois now, and she's brought me to some interesting places, too.

Re: Ping Dr Strangelove
This post needs pictures!!! I understand they're worth a thousand words. ok...here are some I think I posted a good while back. They are shot with a wide angle lens so the perspective may be a little off, making one case look falsely sig bigger than another. You can see that sometimes the BMW looks...

Re: Fuel sending sensor
Riceburner is right, sometimes you can access it by shaking/sloshing the bike side to side. That's an old trick. And what computer? There is not a computer in there, just a on off float. nothing graduated about it. I think the only thing the float does is turn on the low fuel light. It's a very simp...

Hi, Ron It's a coin flip between the two imo >>> you installed aftermarket [Givi] ? panniers / bags as opposed to the BMW system units. Any particular reason why? I am considering a 1200 & am just thinking ahead. I currently have an R1150R w/system bags and find them to be on the small side &...

Re: I'm back - or how to visit a LOT of countries in Europe
Man, that sounds terrific. How many days? Dates of travel? Flew into Frankfurt, train to Dusseldorf? How far down did you get in Italy? What languages do you speak? small hotels? Michelin maps? Yellow roads? white roads? Were autobahns, autoroutes, autostrassas used at backups and make-tracks roads?...

Re: Travels with Blanche DuBois 2014: A Pas de Deux
Thanks again for the so kind words. Sorry been away for a bit, mtg in Boston (love Boston), and then...wait for it...hard drive crash. Fortunately, I am backed up to the hilt, or to a hilt of some sort. Replaced HD with a samsung 840 evo 250gb SSD. After a couple of missteps, thing seem fine, so I a...

Mac, Sounds good! Sorry for the delay, but since I've been here I have had an external drive failure and had to reformat and restore my hard drive. Ugh, fortunately I am backed up out the wazoo and lost nothing. I keep all pictures and music on an external drive, backed up on another, and keep my in...

Vernal!
They say Hwy 50 in Nv is the loneliest road in America, but it does not hold a candle to US 40 between Vernal and Craig, Co.
There is nothing that can hold on freshly poured tar snakes, ie before they "dry."

Re: '11 R1200R - GPS Power Outlet Flaky
the acc fusebox is the way to go when you have real touring stuff on the bike as you do. The congestion at the battery terminals is a battery drain waiting to happen. And if riding long distances you have enough on your mind that you don't need the distraction of remembering to turn off everything h...

Glad you like 'em; my experience also. As I have said, if I were buying today, I wouldn't even research. I did like the scorpion "trails" a little better, but I am splitting hairs, and the GTs get far better mileage. I am talking about the second generation Scorpion Trails. Just watch out ...
