Re: R1150R v new R1200R LC
I only had 2 complaints about the new 12R after a full afternoons ride around Yorkshire Dales. 1. I'm only 5'10" with 30" inseam but felt legroom was very cramped and knees were aching when test ended. 2. The dashboard was very difficult to read even on max brightness. Apart from those it'...

Re: Rear box mounting
Hi Don, hear what you're saying but I'm the other way - function first and form follows on - that's why I don't have an iPhone :) . I've got some mounts coming for fitting a "normal" GIVI/Shad top case to the 12R. They will place the box in exactly the same position as a normal case and th...

Re: Farkle fitting advice please
Rox risers went on OK. Snipped a couple of zip-ties to give a bit of slack. May get extended clutch and brake lines at a later date as they are nearly on their limit. http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a599/14nb4tt3rh4m/IMG_20150911_151903885_zpsubdwy5mf.jpg http://i1285.photobucket.com/albums/a599...

Farkle fitting advice please
Hi, collected my R last night and have a few things to transfer across from the TEX. The Garmin I'll fit to the bars for the time being and a search shows there is a "spare" connection in the wiring to use for this purpose. Is this connector behind the black plastic tank shroud? Just wonde...

Rear box mounting
Pick up the new (to me 2012 model) R12 on wednesday and first job is to fit my Holan box (pictured below) to the rear. The bike has no rear rack of any sort fitted so would be obliged of info on available options. I've priced the OEM rack at about £200 and not that keen as I won't be using panniers ...

Re: Alternative side panniers
I would prefer hard cases such as the Givi Trekker, but I'm informed they do not make a fitting kit for R1150R

Re: R1200R SE - Last of the line before twin-cam motor?
Great bike but $28,199 seems like alot. Mark Those are Ozmanian $$ - worth about 1/3rd of ours.. What I found odd was the photo wasn't of the bike listed. Black mit/white was discontinued in '09.. Just checked with local stealer. Contrary to BMW Motorrad UK site, any colour you want, including blac...

Then I went to Motorrad NZ! Must be the least informative BMW site I've seen. A picture and a price .... wow!

http://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/images/motorcycles/urban/r-1200-r-se/bmw-r-1200-r-se.jpg Looks like a re-run of the "Last of the old engine" R1200GS SE Lots of bits and in any colour you want so long as it's white. Got to be good value? http://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/motorcycles/urban/bmw-r-...

Re: R1200R soon obsolete?
Might be sooner than you think. In the UK, BMW are starting their run-out models with the introduction of both a GS1200SE and an R1200RT LE (the only RT showing on the BMW website) with just about every option available bolted on. According to a dealer I spoke to last year, he was expecting an annou...

Re: What is the most significant bike?
For me my 1971 Bonneville. It bought it running on one cylinder and spent all my free time fixing, tuning, and polishing it until I could take it to Daytona for Bike Week. Everything about that bike sucked compared to every other bike I have owned except for two things. It looked proper and it soun...
