Re: Bike Died In Rain. Thanks Everyone for Your Help

The bike is fixed and runs fine. I picked it up Saturday from Two Jacks BMW in Wilkes-Barre PA. Two thumbs up for Two Jacks. 160 miles home and the bike rode just fine. Boy have I missed it. Luckily I had access to my sons Ducati ST3 which I took out for some rides in the last couple of weeks. I pre...

Re: Bike Died In Rain. Thanks Everyone for Your Help

As of today it is still not ready. The problem is an electrical gremlin in the wiring. They can get the bike running but sometimes it will die and have trouble starting. They have been going over the electrical system trying to figure it out. The Hall Sensor and fuel pump are fine. The problem, acco...

Re: Bike Died In Rain. Thanks Everyone for Your Help

Thanks for the links and pictures. It was actually a bonus for me to have my wife and daughter meet the crew. Now she knows the type of guys I like to hang out with and she is now more comfortable giving me kitchen passes to ride with the Bashers and spend time in the site. Thanks for not showing yo...

Bike Died In Rain. Thanks Everyone for Your Help

Fist of all I want the thank everyone at the Bash who helped me with my dead bike. Big thanks to Cycle Rob for fetching me and taking the time to diagnose the bike, Jim, Jim, Mike Cam and everyone else that helped and had some theory as to why my bike died. This is a wonderful group to be part of. O...

Re: L'Beakster Bash May 2008-ROOMS FULL!--OVERFLOW AVAILABLE!!!

Update to the PA speed enforcement. True or false? Fact or fiction? Here are some links in response to the original post. Either way it looks like the roads will be clear in PA for the Bash. http://www.pasmoothoperator.org/Default.asp http://www.snopes.com/politics/traffic/speeding.asp I'll go with ...

Re: L'Beakster Bash May 2008-ROOMS FULL!--OVERFLOW AVAILABLE!!!

I ran across this on the LDRider list. Looks like the Bash will be at the tail end of a statewide safety crack down on speeding in Pennsylvania. My Public Service announcement for the month...please pass along to others who reside in the Keystone state. In case you didn't notice yesterday, the polic...

Road Runner Magazine PA Trip Article

I just picked up the Feb. issue of Road Runner Magazine. There is an article about one of their rides around Williamsport PA which is in the same area as this years Beakster Bash. The Grand Canyon of the East is mentioned. For those of you that are going this year it is a nice read to get you acquai...

GPS - Still Around

Yep, I'm still around. Been very busy though but have gotten some riding in. I have been the strong silent type. Have about 68,000 miles on the bike now and still have my GPS V. Works well for general information but am lusting after a Garmin 2730. Maybe sometime next year.

We are now into the season of sitting around and discussing all sorts of topics that we would not spend much time with during the riding season. Looks like its time to find the right GPS for your own type of riding so that you can give your significant other the idea of which one to get you for Chri...

Final Drive

I read somewhere while doing research on how to change the bearing that it was OK to just reuse the old shim. So I did. Knock on wood it is working fine with no evidence of wear in the oil and no play in the wheel.

Final Drive

As part of my own pre-60,000 mile service this April before a trip from the east coast to CA and back, I changed out the crown bearing and seal. I was expecting to get the new 17 ball brearing but instead got the newest 19 ball bearing. BMW has gone back to the 19 ball bearing after trying the 17 ba...

Metzler Z6 vs Pirelli Diablos

I am on the third set of Diablos. They feel softer than the Z6's. The wear is about the same on the rear but the front Diablos have lasted longer than the Z6's. The Diablos have a dual compound with the center for long wear and the sides softer for handling. I usually can get around 10,000 miles on ...

BMS Saddle

I got a Bill Mayer Saddle about 40,000 miles and three years ago in vinyl. It has been the best upgrade to my bike. Bill (Rocky) got the seat just right to my specs. I made an appointment, sent the saddle in with pictures and all told with UPS it took around three weeks to get it back. I had him mak...

Bike Cleaner

Just ride in a good downpour on the interstate. It cleans everything out of every nook and cranny. I have used this method a lot in the last several weeks. Doesn't quite give you that nice shiney waxed look, but not bad from 25 feet away! If that isn't enough, use Simple Green.

Mike & Mike Head to the Potato State

Looks like a great trip. Love those pictures on the fly. Did you get any pictures of how flat the midwest is and how about all you see is corn, soybeans and sky? It is actually quite beautiful. Keep the updates coming!

Yep, I have done my valves several times. I have a Twin Max and all the tools. I have been doing it since about 6,000 miles and I now have 46,000 miles. The RR is still running even with all of my ham fisted work! I am located in CT north of Danbury. It is a nice ride up from Brooklyn. Whitestone to...

East Coast Bash III

Mike, count me in next year. The schedule didn't work out for me this year, but WV and a T-shirt is calling me! What are the overflow options when the Inn is full? Do they have a manger or barn out back or are there some accomadations within walking distance? The roads in WV are outstanding. I was r...

Congrats on your ride. You have nailed on the head the things you need to do to help make long ride comfortable. I think the seat is the most important thing you can upgrade for long distance comfort. I have a Bill Mayer saddle and have done the Saddle Sore 1000 and the 1500 miles in 24 hours Bun Bu...

Milage

45,000 miles on my 03. Don't expect to put as many miles on it this year as in years past. :( My new job is not as suited to using it to commute, I am calling on customers more rather than sitting in an office. It is a great ride.
