Re: First Bike Trip on the R12R
I'm 2 weeks into a summers long trip that will take us 25,000 miles or so. We camp as much as possible and with all the gear and tools I'm packing it must total over 100 pounds. There is a picture of the bike in the photo discussion thread if you want to see how it is configured. Out west we cruised...

MT Beemer, I really like the look of your bike with the after market panniers. Do you have any pictures of your bike with the panniers off? I was wondering what it looked like with the after market pannier frame. The reason I haven't gone with the Zega Pro panniers is that the BMW panniers go on an...

Sorry you had a bad experience at D2D, but I can assure you the guys who put on the event are anything but posers. Mostly life long Alaskans that have many miles on dirt and riding all around the world. They are a great bunch and bust there butts to host a free event that many have attended and had ...

Are you familiar with Dust to Dawson? Checkout the AK forum over on Adventure Rider and/or go talk to Mike over at the Abby m/c shop there in Wassilla. See you in Dawson!cestes wrote:Thanks for the info Kevin...I'm sure l'll recognize the bike if I cross paths with you while you are in Alaska.

You would need to work hard to get it to go into the engine.

Sooner or later someone will produce a plug-in device as mentioned. Electrical stuff is all arcane knowledge and ancient Druid lore to me, so I'll have to wait.

Kevin that trip to AK and back to MT sounds great. If you have time to do a ride report or post your route I'd love to read it. Safe travels =D> I've pasted a post I made on another site that answered a guy's question about my top five places to visit in AK and a recommended route. There may be som...

Just about ready for our summer meander. Re: R1200R vs. R1200GS
The R can be made into just about whatever kind of bike you want. I have mine set-up to be a longdistance tourer, but pull off the Hepco Becker bags and tank panniers and it is a competent sport bike. This summer we are riding back up to Alaska and the Yukon. I'll put a set of Scortian Trail tires o...

Re: Violation of the Eilenberger Rule: Epilog
I went from a 07 RT to an 08 R. I had the RT for almost 5 years (sold it last week) and it was a great bike, but it did have issues as Don mentioned above. It could be a handful at low speeds and I tired of having to pull off a ton of plastic to do simple tasks. Bought the R for my wife and ended up...

Re: part number of Am soil oil filter
I have to ask. :-k Why would someone want to use anything but an OEM filter?. Is it the price, or the performance of the stock filter. I can see the price being an issue if we were still doing the 2K oil changes but with the cost of an oil and filter change being spread over 6K I can't see the big ...

Re: Off Topic, but because i talk to you guys its here
The older I get the more reasonable it becomes to accept risk in my opinion. At age 60 how many more years of riding can I expect to have. I know a few people who ride into their 80s, but they are a notable minority. In actuality, I think the risk of riding at this age is much less than when I was 1...
