Re: Hydraulic Clutch Slave Cylinder Maintenance
Yes, BadtotheBown, you're talking about the angled rubber seal inside the actual slave cylinder. No, I'm talking about the gearbox seal that sits deep in the cavity that the Slave Cylinder unit sits in. Two different seals. This is it - described as the "Gearbox Output Shaft Input Seal". I...

Re: One heated grip
Funny that - it's usually the left side HG that goes first, because it's the grip that you haul on to lift the bike up onto its centre-stand. Yes, I'm afraid it's the Tank Off job - only thirteen screws, four fuel line connectors, an electrical plug and a large Torx-head bolt to remove for that simp...

Re: Hydraulic Clutch Slave Cylinder Maintenance
Follow-up... So what about this contaminated seal deep in the 5cm cavity that the slave cylinder sits in ? How does one get it out so as to insert the new ¿ orange ? one ? Chris Harris has a video from a few years ago mentioning this contaminated seal but he doesn't mention or show there, exactly ho...

Hydraulic Clutch Slave Cylinder Maintenance
Decided to have a go at the Clutch Slave Cylinder access job this weekend. I just had to remove the pesky cross-bar though, after peering in from the back end ( oo-er ). Job's so much easier on our nakeds when you don't have all that Tupperware and all those rear frame securing bolts to remove - jus...

Re: HELP! 2002 R1150r Problem
A shot in the dark - ¿ even at 13 Volts y pico , maybe the battery isn't up to scratch when under load ? Some intelligent battery monitors don't really charge the battery to full capacity, especially if it's of a certain age. Try giving it a full whack with a beefy charger. Otherwise, with a twin-sp...

Re: Is This the Sign of Dreaded Spline Failure? No Power Over 5k RPM
Don't forget, skylarmav1, if you DO have to replace the clutch, get one of the new Italian friction plates with the longer hub that will cover the full length of the gearbox input spline. More-or-less the same cost as a naff OEM Sachs plate, but puts extra service life on your clutch. There might be...

Vidoes ? Try these :- This one is my combination of several different Chris Harris filmings before he got sick. Thankfully now recovered... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGf-tWobwEg&t=395s This next guy is in the habit of missing out of his filming exactly what you have to do, but it's a gener...

No worries, Dave - you have the correct brass Quick Disconnects; good on you. As BBY says "chrome plated brass". Remember though that BMW Berlin only guarantees the rubber components on its bikes for a mere FIVE years, so it could possibly be that your most susceptible 3-bar-pressure fuel ...

Re: Heated grips wiring help
I know the feeling. The HG's on the Rockster i bought last year didn't work, mainly because some bozo had simply lobbed off the wires emerging from the under-tank twin connectors. Possibly because Fuse #7 had blown or something simple like a break in the thin windings under the rubber grip. So I aba...

Re: Clicky non-start + gas seeping at quick connects
A Li-Po battery, generally referred to as a 'lithium' will start a cold bike better on a cold morning than any old-tech battery will. It just needs first, a couple of attempts to warm it up. Then it'll spin that crank like gangbusters. It's new technology, so it needs a new attitude to convention on...

OK, now I'm with you...I'm glad that partial solution worked.
But maybe next year it might be an idea to do what Chris Harris does here :-

Re: Changing brake lines on a 2003 R1150R Non ABS
When renewing braided or ordinary brake / clutch hoses, I've been delighted with the service from a UK firm which does international shipping called AS3 Performance. Their bespoke high-pressure hoses come in different colours but crucially have SWIVEL banjos, making installation and routing a breeze...

My two 1200 spray-pattern jobbies are now on the way from Germany; Jürgen Tills was very prompt following my on-line order ( tills.de ) sending them off by Deutsche Post for only 10 snoojits shipping to Spain....he says they're plug'n'play, just unhook the fuel feed with its special swivelling clip ...

Re: Clutch bleed question
As soon as I get access to a bike-lift table I'm going to shoot a How-To video showing the procedure for accessing the slave cylinder without having to lift the tail of the bike as is necessary for complete clutch refurb / replacement. Removing the 'Werkstück' safely without melting the plastic hose...

Re: Help with electrical mystery
Yes, sweatmark is bob-on. The reason for the problem is that the auto-off winker kit is powered from the wrong source. Try instead going straight across the battery via a 5 Amp inline fuse. I always do that for hot gloves, phone charging, satnav feeds, etc., etc. That'll sort it. Betcha. AL in s.e. ...

A firm called RS Paints in the UK is an international shipper and supplies these nice little complete kits of the four different colours needed for a Tiger-Stripe Rockster's touch-up jobs. Excellent colour matching, particularly the two different blues. https://s26.postimg.cc/v22vetd8p/Touch-_Up_Pai...

Failing or failed HES wiring won't necessarily stop the bike dead - remember there are 2 sensors wired to the HES plate - a top and and a bottom one. If the top one goes iffy, it won't stop the bike dead. Bottom one will, though. I think.... As said, it's not usually the HES gubbins that fails - it'...
