Re: Beakster Bash VIII - May 12-14, 2011 Roll Call

I am in, planning on day tripping at this stage. Certainly in for 5/14. Am trying to get a bead on the other days as well. Funnily enough, the close proximity of this Bash is causing my waffling. Hope to commit more fully later on.

Re: Clutch Bleed

When I first looked into the idea of replacing with Speedbleeders, there was/is some controversy in various corners of teh interwebz about the speedbleeders being too long, and thus not seating correctly. It was solved by grinding down the tips just a bit. Never bothered with the speedbleeders, but ...

Re: What am I doing NOW?

I love brain teasers! Ok, looks like you've changed the disc to a solid version, from the cross-drilled (which I also have questions about). But that's not the only change is it? Are you changing it to belt/chain drive?

Re: What am I doing NOW?

Sorry, gotta ask: what benefit are you hoping to achieve by rotating the rear caliper to the bottom of the FD?

BTW, hope you are successful, good luck!

Re: Anybody had a rear wheel come loose?

This has happened to me. And only once, someone else (a "professional") was left with the duty of reattaching the rear wheel. And didn't torque them to spec. That was a very long evening, think "Trains, Planes and Automobiles". More like "Cops, In-laws and Trailers". To...

Low battery can also cause this problem. Test that out too. Hoping you find a cheap, quick fix.

Re: New rockster owner with questions and concerns....

Welcome aboard, Tony! Did you get a green, orange or white one? The bike sounds like it needs some attention in the Throttle Body balancing area. If you don't have a twinmax, or something similar, you can build a manometer with not too much of an investment. For sure the idle needs to be raised. Mig...

Re: Advice please

OK... thinking about it. Maybe a fair deal, as I just re-read the part about you handing over cash. I am going to assume all scheduled maintenance has been done on time. Although with an older bike like this, at 30K, there should be more entries for things like oil changes. There should be at least ...

Re: Advice please

Initially it looks good, (Ohlins = nice!), but have some other questions:

Does the rockster have ABS and heated grips? Maintenance records?

What color (not that it means anything, I'm just curious :)

Re: Rockster carbon fibre availability

How is everyone's front fender holding up? Mine has seen better days, chipping in the leading edge. Plus I can see cracks developing on its side, from certain angles. So while not a customer right now, I would certainly consider a replacement fender from another source than BMW. Not sure that helped...

Sorry for late chime in: I will be present in some shape or form. Seeing as it is so close to me, I am fully waffling on hotel reservations, but Daryl makes many good points. RDsmith3 will not pay for anything in my presence. That guy saved my bacon, hope he can make it. Would love to see Cupohemloc...

Every so often I've had to log in again, but not like what you're describing. That leads me to believe you're running some kind of cookie blocker or other security plug-in. Perhaps... perhaps not. So maybe try using this as your entry point to the board: http://r1150r.org/board/index.php Maybe the h...

Erne,I'm loving the mods you've done to your Rockster. Would you mind sharing them with us?

I specifically interested in the muffler, almost exactly what I'd like to do to mine.

Also, what mirrors are those? Rizomas?

Looks really good, to my eye.

Re: R1150R Battery non OEM Valid?

After quite a bit of denial, Pep Boys confirmed my 7 year old OEM battery had breathed its last. So I ordered a PC680 through Amazon. It included free shipping so the price was similar to the one mentioned above, and I needed some other stuff anyway so that worked out. The battery showed up today, w...

Don't forget to tip the wait staff this holiday season

With any luck, tomorrow I will begin the yearly service of my Oilhead. Which will include a full servo ABS flush. And I'm reminded how much this board has been valuable over the years in supporting my ham-fisted efforts of maintaining my own bike. The best write up on how to do this service, in my o...

Also any specific O ring part numbers or sources for after market would also be helpful. Yes, this thread held particular interest to me as well, although the problem is just about gone now (more on that later). While I'm here, which O-rings are we talking about? Boxermania seems to be referring to...

Re: Ohlins for Rockster Discontinued?

FWIW I think I have the first set of YSS shocks built for the Rockster, at least in the U.S. Great upgrade!

Not sure where you're located, but this is the company that did mine

http://www.epmperf.com/

Might want to give them a call, see if that will work for you. Good luck!
