Hi David,
I have noticed in the post you refer to that you used extensive zip ties. How did that work over the years? I have had problems with zip ties being broken after some ice-cold winters which affects the plastic I suppose ...

Re: Wonderlich Seat
Nice report! If I am not mistaken Wunderlich is not the producer but gets them made in their name. Best available seats in my opinion are still the ones made by kahedo (http://www.kahedo.com/en/motorcycle-seats/bmw.html).

Re: Aftermarket Horn
On my R1200S I installed the Fiamm Freeway Blaster (just the low and not both horns). Used the original connectors and that thing is loud enough for me. That gadget is available for a few dollars everywhere. Except here in Germany which is why my sister had to bring it with her on a visit from Canad...

Many people have considered that swap. You can adapt the cast wheels taken off the R1150R/RT/RS or R1100S. Some modifications are required but I can't tell you which.

He (the troll) has probably applied anti-heat instead of antifreeze and it was just a test?
I'd call this brainless.

Re: don't leave your bike running in the parking lot
Sir, I believe you are aware that our oil- and hexheads are oil/aircooled. Once there is no air vent the engine will heat up to unhealthy levels very quickly. One should never leave the bike idling in a parking lot for more than a few minutes. Would that not be common sense? If as a consequence you ...

these things are quite popular in the land of cheese (Holland) and for wing-riders. I would never put something like this behind my bike. Never ever!

Re: Fluid change question?
Today I changed the gear box and final drive oil in my R 1100r with 10,000 miles on it. Both these oils had been changed about 2000 miles ago. The gear box oil was black but clear and the final drive oil was a silver color and kind of cloudy in a metallic sort of way. Is this a indication of bad th...

Re: R1100r seat modification
Its made by a German company called Wuedo and the part is called CR11 and p/n is 46-63-89-00. They still have it for the R1100R facelift version (after 1997 model).

Re: R1100R seat storage
You got 2 choices. a) get yourself the radiobox used for police and other officials (and get yourself the parts for mounting the same - look for the part nos at realoem) or b) you build your own stuff. There is nothing available any more from aftermarket manufacturers.

Re: setting valves and other stuff
In my case when i did my partial 12K before winter i found fluid in FD was somehow dark gray and in gear box was about the same. I did not find any large particles on my FD magnet plug only some like powder residue. I have read about amount of fluid in FD, some say it should be 180cc some say 230cc...

Brembo, Carbone Lorraine or EBC are the best and cheaper than OEM. The difference between these 3 is not noticeable if you are not frequently on the racetrack.

Re: Hello there, does anyone know this windscreen
Hi Jonathan,
I suppose thats the BMW flyscreen for the R1150R model (see http://www.sierrabmwonline.com/product_ ... 6294-p-632). You can get that through your stealer or search around for a 2nd hand piece ...

Re: Filing DOT complaints regarding the fuel strip
When your light illuminates what bar level shows in your display and how many "miles left?" Just curious about how a functioning fuel strip works. I've looked twice and can't find the petcock nor the reserve tank on the r1200r. Dunno how many bars show in the display. But miles left (in m...

Re: Fuel Injector Circuit
As said before if you have fuel, air and a spark the bike will fire up. It may be that don't get enough fuel which would most probably indicate a problem with the pump and/or the fuel filter. If you have symptoms when turning the handlebar left or right that indicates a problem with any of the wires...

Re: Spongy Front Brakes
Sounds like improper bleeding to me. Bleeding the hexheads is quite a task which can drive you mad. I always suggest using either the stahlbus valves or as a replacement you could also use bicycle valves (simply insert same in the bleeding tube). Proceed in the correct order. Finally consider puttin...

Re: setting valves and other stuff
When I recently changed the oil in the FD (bike had 20 000 kms on the clock) I discovered a stinking black sludge and the FD shaft running quite dry ... Happy changed the oil and applied Honda Moly 60 on the fd shaft. Since it is not a big deal on the 12S I will change the oil in the FD and gearbox ...
