Re: Merry Christmas!

I want to wish all you guys and gals a Merry Christmas! I hope all of you have a great time with family and friends and remember the real reason for the holiday. I asked Santa to bring me a fresh supply of BMW antifreeze for my R's radiators. I hope y'all did the same! And a Happy New Year!! Thanks...

Re: New guy here

Ben, Boxer was very good about maintenance on his bike. But he may have slacked off a bit concerning keeping the antifreeze in the tankside radiators serviced on a regular basis. Might want to check on that. Very important. Boxer is also a master chef when it comes to cooking up small game: grouse,...

Yup, the BMW bags can take a beating. Countless drops and mishaps have proven to me they are stronger than one would think for being plastic. http://lostrider.smugmug.com/photos/i-ZPXwfvW/0/XL/i-ZPXwfvW-XL.jpg Finn, You really should take care of your bike a bit better <vbg> ... btw, great pic!

A real fan of the top loaders, especially for commuting and schlepping around a laptop, etc. A bit cumbersome when taking on/off bike, but I can live with that. Thanks for the comments.

Re: R1250R

I was down at the BMW dealer in Kaiserslautern the other day and one of the sales reps took me around to the shop and showed me their first water-cooled GS. The heads were noticeably bigger than the standard boxer heads. BTW, I arrived in country about six weeks ago and my 07 R12R arrives next week...

Doug,

See the discussion over in the R1200R forum ... there are more pics there. I like the artist's rendering, but some of the other pics I have seen are not that flattering - looks a bit on the heavy side.

Reminds me of a quote from "The Wiz" years ago as follows: "Shes the one that put the UGGGG in ugly, but sure had pretty nice shoes!" :D Not even remotely interested in the design and it looks like the front end is extremely heavy and cumbersome.

Re: New owner, first trip on the R

I'm no expert but I think the fueling devices (resistor tuners) are pretty safe as thousands of guys are running them on all types of bikes. You probably won't need the throttlemeister. I know Harley guys use something similar called a Xied. My Sargent seat has made a big difference too. The stock ...

Re: Sitting at light......neutral or 1st gear?

Rarely do I take it out of gear ... want to be ready to maneuver if/when it looks necessary. Same reason I don't put a car in Neutral at a stop light ... just keep clutch in and foot on the brake.
