I don't think the Kawi will compete with the new 800 BMW twins because the Kawi is chain drive and won't have the alternator output, heated grips and class of a BMW.

mcooperstein, You can make a jumper to duplicate exactly the CCP's function. Use a two inch wire with a male flat spade terminal on each end that you'll plug into the bike's number 30 and number 87 terminals in the CCP socket. Use your MaGoo reading glasses (I have a pair too) and a bright light to...

WOW. Another immaculate black Roadster. Forget about what the older Bonneville's used to be. The new Bonnie is like a Jap Bike and that's a good thing. All modern engine design and sophisticated, reliable electronics. It will really grow on you, but after my having owned similar bikes like you've ow...

What are the chances we'll meet otherwise? Slim-2-none . . . . . at our age. Pat, Canada? I'd wish you'd make the (Ouch! TEN ...

It's now 12:59 am here and that's all that's on FoxNews all nite. What's really amazing is the stupidity of those in harm's way that are going to "ride it out". I just figured out the relative power of a 175MPH wind. Because windpower varies as the cube of the wind velocity, 175MPH is TWIC...

Update: The plan to group meet at 6pm Sunday Sept 18th for hello's, handshakes AND dinner somewhere are still solid. Our America West flight 64 arrives at 2:42pm Sunday. A few hours to settle in our MGM Grand Hotel, then we can all meet in/near the main lobby or nearby shady outdoor spot at 6pm. We'...

chibbert1, You can't charge a run down 20 Amp-Hr battery with the bike's lightweight wires fused with a 10 Amp fuse. That 20 Amp-Hr battery, when run down, can draw over 30 Amps for the first few seconds. You'll need some heavy 10 gauge (or lower number) wires like the MotorCycle jumper cables M/C ...

Yahoo-Boy, When Thad goes thru the routines, be sure you understand what is going on and exactly what you are trying to do rather than memorizing the steps and his motions and then trying to repeat them later when you're alone. I'm talking about finding TDC of the compresion stroke, how tight "...

One thing I keep noticing every time Tony Blair, the Mayor, a Bobby (police) or even the average Britt on the street speaks - - - - they all show a great deal of class! So genuine. So kind. So polite. So Civilized. Hearts of gold and spines of steel. How could anyone want to murder those people? Tha...

Have you ever wondered what the inside of your motor looks like? rchop, Yes, I have, but so far have resisted taking mine apart that far to satisfy my curiosity. Wow. What a response. I was looking to spend about an hour talking with board members I'd never otherwise meet and checking out the their bikes in a cool shady spot. Meet me in Las Vegas?

Life changing events have happened. My wife got laid off from her 27 year job after years ago requesting she be considered for lay-off when one occurs. Our retirement was planned for 2006 or so but her 52 weeks of severance pay makes a huge difference when compared to just quitting. It has moved up ...

I thought about getting PIAA's but could not believe the money chunk they wanted for them. The free lifteime replacement isn't really free when what looks like a $60 set of lites goes for about a $100. I looked at what was available and chose a $20 set from Harbor Freight that were small, 55 Watts e...

A few pointers . . .

I changed 8 tires today, 5 of them on the bikes, in addition to 3 other service jobs. It was a crazy Saturday. Changing tires yourself can have costly consequences you should be aware of. At the top of the list is bending brake rotors while trying to break the tire bead. A $170 brake rotor is turned...

I need a MotorCycle as much as good food or a dedicated woman. When an internet search popped up &qu...

I just voted NO

A Newbie working on his own bike? I just voted NO. If you insist on doing it yourself I do have some good advice that I hope you'll take. The first 1 or 2 times you do a 3 zone oil change or tune-up I recommend you do it as a student of someone somewhat experienced in working on MotorCycles . Even s...
